Just one additional thing - I can say that I have seen some fabulous things on ipads. Just dont expect them to drop in to your exising infrastructure.
-
Personally I would build a plyboard frame around the projector with fans built in to the back. Then I would give it a plexiglass front cover and then the projector is completely encased if you get the glass correct it shouldnt make a difference to the picture

I know a place where they have been told that they are getting ipads. Anyway its the exact opposite. Cant easily get to file shares needs webdav. Cant print anything easily without complicated modification. For their setup they had no accountability for peoples actions online eg using filters because the proxy used active directory login and ntlm is not supported by apple properly. If you put the username and password in the network settings it works for safari but nothing else eg itunes etc can use those proxy settings. In an infrastructure with windows involved using it in the same way is nearly impossible. I beleive you can link 5 devices to itunes but then you have to manage those accounts and you have an issues with installing the same software on 5 devices (Illegal or not illegal?) Remember you only bought it once.

Um you realise you can get flash pre packed in an msi from adobe right? Just request distribution rights and then give you an msi

also this is worth looking at. but before spending too much time i would check that the same problem wont happen that you originally posted. mksbackup can: wbadmin use Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) on the source disk to backup only changed block and does a kind of incremental backup. Every 15 backups, wbadmin does a full backup. wbadmin use VSS on the target disk (when possible) to maintain multiple versions of the backup. MKSBackup free wbadmin command line front-end

Windows 2008 always thought that about networb backups you can tweak the options i think if you do it from the command line
-
An idea that occurred to me. Have you tried sharing the drive using a network share and then backing up to itself ? eg \\127.0.0.1\4TBDRIVE and then see if it gets around the problem ? Strange how some of these things work
-
Yeh thats exactly what we do and I always tell people things on the desktop are not backed up. I think ill just exclude them
-
This is a quick one. We are using windows 2008 with vista and 7 clients. Im re-configuring the offsite backup and Im just wondering if I should include peoples profiles or not. They are pretty large and mostly rubbish except people might want their favs and things that people put on their desktop. However I wouldnt call them Essential and im quite short on space on the backup device. What would everyone else recommend ? just dump profiles ? Thanks Squeeky

ahh ok for future reference and for others just make sure your MST file is still using the network path because on my server it had defaulted to local browsing and then was failing because it couldnt find the specified mst file
-
Hmm doesnt seem to make any difference i have everyone full access. Might it be because Ive used an ip not a dns name ? eg \\192.168.0.1\software\Smart\setup.msi obviously this isnt best practice but should still work

Hi, Im trying to push out smart notebook 11 on to the network so that it installs automatically on newly deployed pcs. I have created my mst on Smart Install Manager and then saved it to the network share with my msi file that I have obtained from smart. However whne I apply it in the group policy (with the modifier) and then reboot a client smart essentials flashes past in about 15 seconds or so and doesnt install. The error i from eventvwr on client is far from helpfull: Log Name: System Source: Application Management Group Policy Date: 19/09/2012 15:04:55 Event ID: 102 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: SYSTEM Computer: TEST-INSTALL Description: The install of application SMART Education Software 2012 from policy New-Clients failed. The error was : %%1612 Can anyone help with this because that error code turned up nothing for me except that the network source is not accessible. When I login I can access that network share so I assume it is ok ? Thanks Squeekymouse89

As the title says. Has anyone tried RM Maths in wine, does it work or could it with some tweaking. All the other software we use for kids is quite simple but this is the one that might give me a pain.

If we were to get another 2008 server in the future would the cals be valid for that aswell. BTW that was the last stupid question i promise.
-
sorry another question, Are CALs a one off purchase or do they need to be renewed
-
I've tried but its just not going to work managing policies and software in that way. I understand that samba has some ok domain stuff now though
