Yeh it looks like the share is not present either. Im missing netlogon and sysvol :S. If I get really stuck will robo work on both ?

Hi Guys, Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I have actually forcefully started all of the critical services in safe mode with networking. I am going to migrate it all to a fresh server install. All sorts of stuff was broken including the DHCP database which no matter where i got the database from was corrupted. I had all the scope info and reservations so I have recreated this from scratch. At least I have something to work from now. Coincidentally does anyone know if SYSVOL automatically replicates to a secondary domain controller. I have looked in the sysvol folder on the new server after joining it to the failed server and cant see any files.

yes i'm pretty sure I do and I have just got to get in to safe mode otherwise all is lost. I took the C drive VHDX offsite so I can mess with it and left the vm trying to do a chkdsk on boot and hope it will miraculous revive itself.... doubtfull

Hi everyone, Little urgent help needed. We have a server that boots, shows the windows 2008 r2 loading bar then just goes to a black screen. I can boot it correctly in safe mode but it wont let me login due to the login services not being available. Its a VM and I restored the OS vhd from yesterday and friday with the exact same result. Anyone got any bright ideas ? Thanks Squeeky

Hi, We are using standard roaming profiles it does appear to be a permissions thing but i cant figure out why they could be wrong when the profile folder is created by the user upon first login.
-
Hi, We have migrated all of our laptops to Windows 10 with a Windows 2008 R2 domain controller. We use roaming profiles and have come across a strange issue. Sometimes when a user logs in to a laptop or PC windows 10 says "Welcome" and just stops. It doesn't matter if you wait hours or days the PC remains in this state. The only way to stop the issue is to hard shutdown the PC, login to the server and remove profile.V5 and then power up the machine and remove the local copy of the same profile as administrator. Obviously this isn't great because the user looses all their personal settings etc Has anyone experienced this before ? Thanks Squeeky

ok thanks for your help.

No i realised that however its activating windows 8 machines just fine with the windows 10 kms key :S
-
Hi, This doesn't appear to be true. We are activating windows 10 clients using the windows 10 KMS key on a standard operating system not a server.
-
Hi Everyone, Just a small puzzle that I am trying to solve. We used to have a Windows 8 KMS Host on site to activate all our windows installs. This worked great and activated everything that was windows 8.1 or lower including windows 7. We have upgraded this to a Windows 10 KMS host after requesting the key from Microsoft. This works great for windows 10 machines and windows 8 but it appears to not be activating windows 7 installs anymore and is marking them as not genuine. We know this is defiantly not correct but cannot think why this has suddenly started happening. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks Squeeky

Hi everyone, I don't know if you can help me. We have just purchased a series of Multi-docks from Griffin and some iPad Mini 4 devices. We are finding that every single one of these charging docks seems to have problems charging the mini 4. The box we have states that these charging units are revision G if that helps anyone to compare there own experience. Below is a picture of the dock in error mode, has anyone seen this problem before. Griffin helpfully have no phone number that is in the UK to call but I don't see any reason why these docks would not work on the mini 4 when it works on other devices. When we turn it off and reset it it will work for a few moments before the charging light goes red again and stops providing power on the port. Strangely its not port specific and appears to happen randomly on different ports at different times.

Hi Everyone, Not sure if this is of any interest whatsoever but myself and some IT mates have all started playing insurgency and found it pretty good. I picked it up last week for really cheap and then decided with my mates that a server would be useful. The server always has a few players online and is setup for bot vs humans mode. All geekers are welcome if interested. Banner is below, ironically at the time I'm writing this post it has no players lol. We went with RTFM because sometimes you just wish people would! http://cache.www.gametracker.com/server_info/5.189.158.122:27015/b_560_95_1.png Squeeky

Hi Everyone, I need to know if anyone is using Toshiba copiers. We are looking at changing and I just want to know the good and bad experiences of any Toshiba copiers. Thanks

Hi, Thanks for the reply. It turns out Paxton say it just cant be done, I do find this strange because they must use some sort of RFID. I will have to go through the shadow cards for all of the leavers and match the cards back up manually by banning each one until the fobs stop working then once that is done I can re-enable the fobs
-
Hi Guys, Small issue that has arisen today. We have been given some Paxton door fobs (820-010) in batch from a member of staff. Obviously at some time these had the ID badges attached to them but when people have left someone shredded the ID badges. Is there any way to RFID read these cards on a pc and match them to the shadow card (card that removes from the system) ? The system is not a Net 2 system because it is a standalone door but there must be some correlation between the initial card to batch add them to the door, the banning card and the fob itself. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Squeeky

Hi peeps, I found some good batteries to replace the pitiful PS4 1000mah battery. Its been well worth it for me and has given me a massive boost in battery life ..... BUT - The polarity is backwards you need to change the pins over in the socket. The new battery is 2000mah I removed the black battery mount inside my newest controller and just hot glued it in place to make it fit because the new battery is slightly bigger (it will fit without mods just fine if you have a ps4 launch controller) Battery link: Adafruit 2000mAh LiPo Battery 3.7V Let me know if you give it a go, my completed one is pictured below with the parts I removed. Have a good Christmas, now with extended battery life! Squeeky

Hi I don't know if anyone here is using parent mail but we are desperately trying to get upgraded to PMX because we are still on V1. We have got 90% of the way through the process but got stuck with the auto sims link.... it works but its not automatic. I have tried every option on the parentmail support helpline and only been given the option for a call back once (and possibly still the wrong category). Additionally I want to book some training. I opted for the call-back at 9:15 on a Monday and received the call-back at 14:15 the same day when I was at lunch they told me that the call was now closed and I have to put myself back in to the queue again and wait for another call-back!!!! Does anyone know a number or is there some sort of secret trick to actually get through to a human ? Capita & Tucassi don't seem to have issues handling high volumes of technical calls. Also looking at alternatives to parentmail. If anyone has got suggestions based on recent experience I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks Squeeky

Hi, We are having a small issue where users write a file and occasionally it doesn't write any permissions to the file in the share. Does anyone know what can cause this problem ? Its a 2008r2 server with the end user successfully authenticated and mounted the network share. I have attached a screenshot of a .doc file that was saved by a user and has no permissions assigned to it. Thanks Squeeky

Check the psn thread for my Id. It resets each week ? Ahh man why did we bother !!! Also I have a spare copy of the original game that I want rid of obviously doesn't include the expansions.

Hi, Everyone. I'm having a bit of a puzzle. We have had a transitive trust setup on our system for a few weeks now because we required curriculum teaching staff to have access to sims. The problem is that we also started using this trust for specific share permissions on new drives going forward and at first it was really useful to be able to assign a share with both admin and curriculum users having proper permissions. This is when the weirdness started. We have users who after two moths of perfect operation have started to report that their files are missing after they save them. That's weird I thought... Maybe they just didn't save properly. However the files exist on the server but they cannot see them, what's more is that the file has no permissions... That's right not even administrator has permissions until I takeown the file and give all the permissions back to the end users. After this the files all re-appear. Does anyone have any suggestions because I'm stumped. Oh also the user has no problems saving to the same domain they are in, All permissions are saved etc Squeeky
