Hi, I was wondering what the best way to deploy software on osx is. We use a windows 2003 server and joined them all to ADDS but when we install software as the admins manually it doesnt give the students icons :S. The integration is a very good step but if i could have more pointers. The only way i could also get the proxy settings to change was to copy the admins safari settings etc to the osx template for new users on each pc. Then when a new user logs in for the first time they get the new settings Thanks

Its a bit pointless, Take the iphone and then enlarge it what use does that have. Wow it can go on the internet and is probobly a pain for typing in urls etc.

if your trying to authenticate moodle to AD cant you just rent a server for hosting the site (I mean entire server or private server) and then have a vpn host (openvpn) on the hosting server and openvpn client on your domain server

yes it will. Im just looking at those switches spec to try figure out the set thats correct.

the first thing you will need is to make sure your switches come with the fiber modules. Like these Network Switch Module - AGM733 the last set of switches we purchased didnt come with the modules just the ports and the modules had to be purchased. Each module basicaly just provides tx and rx ports

I would advise against using ident. I found that using ident causes quite a delay in loading a page sometimes because it has to wait for the ident response before fetching the page. We use dansguardian and squid to integrate AD. Tho be carefull because if you dont setup any encryption then passwords are transmitted between squid and ad in clear text meaning you can actuarly use a packet sniffer to capture passwords. If your looking for just a way to log pages accessed install a new box after your current just for auditing purposes. Ive used endian for this in the past its free and has ad integration and its pretty easy to setup. We also found you can assign different filtering levels to staff children and administrators Hope this helps Squeeky
