We are thinking of getting a new server (moving from simple linux server) and I am unclear on a few things. As I understand we need 1 cal for each device (the cheapest way for us). Is a file server / domain server included as a device that needs cals. It seems like a stupid question but our file shares are currently all samba on linux. Thanks

stranger still it works as administrator but when i login as a child it doesnt work :S

why bother with the hosts file ? if your assigning statics anyway just assign them 1 - 9 in the stack and access them via their ip.

it just says certificate error and on sam learning half the images and css dont load and itslearning i get a warning before the site and then i have to click continue.

Ive just tried to run that and it seemed to do nothing .... tho when i double click the file to install i didnt see any windows or anything

Hi, Not sure if this is quite the correct part of the forum but here goes anyway. We have 2 different sets of netbooks samsung windows 7 and dell windows vista. When I go to https://www.itslearning.com or https://www.samlearning.co.uk I get invalid certificate errors galore. Why is this only happening on only our newer netbooks ? If I go to any other laptop and login then it works fine. we are talking 32 laptops that dont work. My first idea was the date and time on the netbook but that is correct on every one. Thanks

Hi, untill now I have had an msi of testbase 13 with all our licenses included in it for easy install. However during our server swap one of the testbase files got corrupted. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of the download for it because i cant see it on their website any more like it used to be. Our LA never gave us a cd or it was lost by my predecessor. Thanks

set cpu wont do anything unless you have a kernel that allows overclocking

contact htc or your phone provider and then if they wont help root the phone install a custom rom and downclock it to see if that helps

problem is in Key Stage 1 we only have class logins and i think it was damaged moving rather than that last class that logged in (i know the class already) so its possible it was damaged by someone after this class used the laptops

We had a problem last week with a brand new netbook having its screen damaged. Unfortunately we were not able to tell who damaged it as it was not reported until the end of the day. My question is does anyone have policies for the staff about how netbooks should be given out and how they should be put back again. Also has anyone come across screen protectors for netbooks ? if you are setting the profile on the server its a roaming profile. It downloads to the local pc and then when you log off it saves any changes to the profile back to the server. Personally i create a share called profile with a matching username eg 99fbloggs and then the profile path points to that. Otherwise when some muppet stores all their files on the desktop everyone has to download them with the roaming profile data. The profile also contains stuff like temp internet files etc if you dont turn these features off

Can I point out to you that your "Demo" website for that school has quite a few issues. The Menu when hovered over works but then when you move the mouse down the menu vanishes. Also on my pc the word school appears out of the box

Got some vista clients and they dont read the GP properly from the domain. Obviously some settings work but in 2003 server some settings are missing that i need to specify. I hear that RSAT is usefull for setting vista policies. I have one question tho and this seems pretty stupid. Does RSAT go on the clients or the server ? Thanks Squeeky

so would i but got a few budget issues at the moment. Our current server is P4 era so its not running the best in the world

We are about to virtualise our windows 2008 server and im building the new server for holding the VM. However it currently lacks hard disk space with 2X 250GB WD2500YS SATA Hard disks. Obviously this only gives me 250gb in raid 1. The SAS Controller has 4 Connectors on it but should I add more 250gb hard disks and make a raid 5 or should I add two new 500gb or 1TB drives in Raid 1 ? Thanks Squeeky

LOL, i would suggest you try buying a replacement keyboard. to test if its a keyboard fault you could remove the laptops keyboard and see if it works perfectly with a borrowed or spare USB Keboard. This saves you the cost of getting the correct keyboard for the laptop only to find out that its some kind of weird motherboard fault.

i would like to point out that windows 7 and 2003 probobly wont go together that well due to the changes in GP etc. I would consider upgrading your server aswell to keep a reasonable level of compatability
