  1. Hi all, I'm trying to get the GCalendar module to work on our school website (Joomla 1.5.17). The website is hosted on site and we our ISP is EMBC. The GCalendar installs fine on Joomla 1.5.17 but when I run a system check of the module it is unable to connect to Google to grab calendar data. The error I get is: Please contact your web hoster and check if their firewall blocks curl http calls to google.com. curl is installed and working on the server. Has anyone else had this problem or anything similar? I've been told that EMBC are probably blocking curl http calls to google.com but I don't know exactly how to explain this the guys at EMBC and how to get them to unblock it. My main goal is to get an upcoming events feed generated from serveral google calendars. GCalendar seems like the answer but if anyone else has found another program that does the job that would also help. Thanks,
  2. Bit of a strange one here. Got a memory stick (Kingston 16GB) I created some folders for putting drivers in for a laptop im building. Structure is like this E:\Drivers\E8010D\ then folders within the E8010D: Audio Chipset LAN Wireless Modem. But Windows has decided to make the same structure within each folder, going on in an infinate loop. lol Here is a screenshot from @Batman linux workstation
  3. Just to let people know. Updated to 1.5.17 from the Edugeek packaged version and stuff is working ok at the moment.
  4. Just thought I'd warn people about a threat I found. PDF Creator has been a good program for converting materials to PDF documents. Was trying to install PDF Creator on my freshly bulit workstation. Downloaded the latest installer (0.9.9) The installer kept crashing. After investigation this is because there is mailware inbedded within the installer. Even though I untick all the option not to install Yahoo bar, etc. I'd recommend using an older version that doesn't seem to be affect in the same way.
  5. Havn't tried the netbook version and wubi yet. Regarding your problem with window buttons, as stated before my guide should help you with this MikeGlover.co.uk
  6. Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx LTS Final Release has now arrived! Been using it for a while now (alpha2) and I'm liking it alot. There are some big changes in this release, some good, some bad. (check my website on how to change the annoying titlebar buttons) But overall it is a very well polished and feature packed distribution. I first started out on Ubuntu 6.06 LTS and the project has come on leaps and bounds since those early days. The ubuntu community has done some great work, and should be proud of their achievements. Check it out at: Ubuntu Home Page | Ubuntu
  7. I think its an SCCM deploy. I'm still very very new to this SCCM, having come from a RM CC3 environment. It's alot to learn!!! We do have a company that supports us with this but wanted to try and solve this one myself and I find the best way to learn a new system is to just get stuck in there. I'll try the link you provided _Adam_ it looks promising thanks. If I do get really stuck I guess I'll resort toour support guys to make an image for me. Cheers
  8. Hi, I've made serveral attempts to try and capture and deploy a Windows 7 image for SCCM. The last attempt I was successful in capturing the image (using a HP dc7800p) but when I deploy the image it gets as far as transfer the image then fails when it applies it. Has anyone been successful in making a Windows 7 image in SCCM? As Windows 7 is very new the idea is that I make one image and it will cover nearly every machine that we have to date.
  9. Photography is a hobby of mine and I highly recommend Pentax cameras. Pentax are not as big as Canon or Nikon but they have been round for a very long time and making very good quality cameras. The build quality on pentax budget DSLR are way better than Nikon or Canon entries. I just seen this on Camera Parks website a second hand sale of the camera I use. Pentax K20D is a mid range camera with alot of features. Pentax K20D (USED) - Park Cameras Online You would need a lens with it but at the bottom of that page is a 18-55mm lens for £39. Perfect for landscapes.
  10. Just like to say the new site looks great! You've done alot of good work here. Just trying to get my head round where everything is now but I'm sure it won't take too long.
  11. Yeah, sounds very similar. We are on EMBC proxy. The problem seems to have fixed itself now so looks like it was to do with proxy their end. Cheers,
  12. One of servers has suddenly developed a strange problem. When I try to go to any website using IE6 (yes i know it isn't supported) I get errors of Malformed HTML and when I do get to some website (BBC - Homepage) Its a load of html coding but for some reason the < in the tags have been replaced by the number 8. I then installed Firefox and get the same thing, so i dont think this is just and IE6 issue. An example of the first line in the browser when I go to the microsoft website is: <8html xmhns="http://www.s3.org/1999/xhtmh dir="htr" lanc="en"> Micrksoft Corporatioj8script The Micrksoft worries me. Anyone got any ideas or seen this before. Before anyone says. Yes I have uptodate vs definition and doing a complete scan right now.
  13. mmm... strange. possibly your site has been hijacked. I'd keep an eye out when navigating round the site if you see any strange links in the status bar when pages are loading etc.
  14. No but you'll probably find http errors will have SIMS fault code now.
  15. We had something similar quite a while back with our moodle server when an upgrade was done. I think it was something to do with utf8. I can't exactly remember what was wrong because I've slept since then. What version of Moodle are you running? If you started off with an old version of moodle without utf8 support you might need to upgrade the database with utf8. Another thing, moodle has serveral language packs you may need to set the default to Eng (utf8).
  16. Been trying to sysprep a hp compaq 610 for simply ages. Come acrossed so many hurdles with this I feel like throwing it out of the window. Anyway, After syspreping, creating a new user and agreed to the licence agreement etc. and logged in. I find that the shortcuts for Office 2003 have been changed They start with C:\ProgramData\Program Files\.... This is wrong as it should just be C:\Program Files\... Anyone know why this is happening? Thanks
  17. thanks everyone. sorted now
  18. Quick question. Does any know of a good program for recovering lost files on a memory stick? Hope to find a Freeware solution. Typing into google gives me loads of choice of which most I don't trust will do the job. What are people using? Cheers,
  19. thats the trouble I already have a user created on the machine and don't want it to create another one.
  20. Thanks for the guide. I can't see why I have to download a 1.6 GB program to do a sysprep. It's CRAZY! I guess I've have to leave it download at 20 kB over weekend. Is there no other way of doing this people?
  21. The machine does not need to connect to the domain. All im after really is what Sysprep unattended setup was on XP.
  22. Does anyone have a good guide on how to sysprep a windows 7 machine for use with FOG or any other imaging system. I have gone through the sysprep that is install in Windows/system32/sysprep and only have a option for OOBE or Audit. OOBE option is not what I want because it forces you to create a new user during the setup experience.
  23. I've seen somewhere that the Nexus One is actually manufactured my HTC. I got a HTC Hero and the camera is terribly slow. What's the camera like on Nexus One?
  24. had a similar issue with a MacBook. Took ages to get out. As discussed already hold down Eject or C while switching it on. I think I manage to get it out by holding the MacBook upside down so gravity was pushing the dvd the other way and doing the eject poweron trick. Good Luck
  25. Ah in that case I understand. I got the HTC Hero with the 5 megapixs camera but the camera is so bad that I dont use it often. Annoying because I'm into photography I find myself without a camera and the phone is no good. What type of DSLR you got? I use a Pentax K20D, fantastic camera.
