have you tried slaving it (i know in theory if bios does not show it then windows doesn't but i had one like this and discovered by shear fluke it had appeared)you could also try another PC or swap ide cables, and Also try bartspe disk

in theory i agree but the install instructions ask for there to be a user called install and windows xp pro won't let me add users to the ftp site operators? i have come across this issue before but can't remeber a way around it.

hi cybernerd i also tried this but can't get the ftp server part to work i think its to do with setting up a new user called install which i'm having a bit of a thick moment with.

hi chaps i heard alot about ubuntu as a great bit of opensource software does it play nice with windows 2003 servers? should i be looking to implement it on a new server i'm about to source? or is it purely for a linux environment as always thanks for help

Does anyone use a combination of these? i'm trying to give internet access dependant on client name not via the computer name (as the clients all log on to the same computer name). The Clients are launched from a windows 98 cut down custom shell and each have there own unique name but i'm not sure symantec can see that once the terminal server session is launched.

Hi matt i have decided to call it from a batch login script , i created a office 2000 version and used if statements in the batch file (i'm more familiar with them). Have added to login scripts today and will let you know what reaction, problems i run into.

Hi all i have lost my sa password, which up til now hasn't really caused me any problems but i'm forever trying to force off users when doing sims updates and need to know this password, i'm aware that i could change it somewhere within sql but need to know of any knock effects to sims? can i safely change the password with no dramas or if it will cause loads of problems hoe can i find it out (i have full access to the server)

Thanks mate this is good info the problem that i have is that i want to give external access as well (the external connector is a set fee of around £5k so getting user cals is still loads cheaper for me.

Hi Ben just reinstalled onto a new virtual server fresh install no different to the last time and it works brilliantly (after a client workstation reboot having registered?) so now i'm baffled clearly there must be something going on with my server at work but what i don't get is that i have checked all policys, run GP results wizard to see whether any policys were being applied. Also is there no way that complexity issues can be taken into account with the self service password reset tool ( i do want my users to have fairly string passwords afterall).

i'm wondering how i can get it to check which version of office exists and provide the shortcuts accordingly though?
