hi all i'm a bit lost with this post now. I now assume i can change the sa password with no knock effect to sims but whats the best way?

we had problems implemeting wireless thin client as the ip address wasn't given until drivers had loaded (i think) i binned it the end.

yes install vmware then create a new machine and install server 03 exactly the same as you would on say a standalone machine. there will be performance issues when using vmware but as long as you adjust memory accordingly on the the virtual machine you should be ok, oh and try not to do much on the host machine at any one time( i tend to kill any background apps that eat memory or processing power).

ah ok i guess i got the wrong package. I want to install standard server and standard workstation and have a play with them. can you point me in the right direction for the downloads? are they seperate or will one distro give me a server/wstation choice?

thanks Ric_ wheres the repositories then and will it make things easier with the GUI i'm not sure why i had the impression that all linux distros were now GUI based as default seems i'm a little of the pace with this.

hi all just downloaded a vmware version of ubuntu 6.10 server from http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/appliances/directory/ and started it up but it is non GUI have i got the wrong version? can any one point me in the right direction? i want to see what a server install can offer me.

yes it will/can act as a DC although sometimes it can be fiddly to get the actual host machine to connect to the domain (seperate machines should be able to connect as workstations and access resources fine)

yeah i want to add to add that and say that having been involved in loads of forums in the past this one is top dollar with a real community spirit.

Hi Ric_ are you still using proxmox i'm thinking of installing something her in front of exchange server is it easy to set up and are there any problems?

likwise we have a naming convention that stays with them done on year of birth and initials so for example 93rt11 would be a year seven with the initials rt and be the first person in the first network witj those initials 93rt12 would be the second person with those initials etc etc. ous are : staff, students, all pcs, then rooms.

hi all i have a pc that takes ages to shut down and even hangs on occasion, but it only happens when the pc has been switched on for about an hour, prior to that it turns off fine and dandy, any ideas for a fix?

is there a way you can use the aol interface without completely reinstalling aol on the network? situation is aol is their isp network is wireless currently using ie7 but they want to use aol interface so that their emails appear on the same page etc on just one machine, they have disk but the install asks to completely install aol again etc, which should not be neccasary as all the user details are stored at router level. any ideas?

thanks mate done all those plus a few other tricks my main problem is getting rid of programs from add remove programs which have been deleted or just won't remove plus i want to clean up registry

Hi all my wifes pc is an bit of a state and i want to clean it up get rid of old programs make sure the registry is all ok etc anyone recommend any free progs that will do a good job of getting its performance back? p.s I'm well aware of fdisk and format thank you....

can't you add the users in question to a seperate domain security group and then add this group to the local power users group on these music machines?

thats what i figure mate i'm curious to know what the standard install by ramesys would have been, (have phoned but they won't tell me cos we are only isp, when i think of how much money we have and continue to spend with them it makes me ill, that they won't answer such basic questions,!!

does anyone have a network on a 10.37 range installed by ramesys that run two dhcp servers i want to check the scope configurations so i can rebuild mine. cheers
