  1. The worst they can say is no, the best is they put you on the lowest scale point and understand you need development. Use real life experience of managing money if you have to, everyone has managed or supervised once in their life, football, rugby, cricket... it all counts.
  2. Probably not of much interest to alot of you, this is a monitoring role using bespoke tools to help support our mobile data centers at sporting events - not your average helpdesk role. We're not looking for A+, N+ or any MCPs but someone with intelligence, an eye for detail, able to follow direction, contribute with improvements and most importantly we're looking for someone reliable. Someone analytical with the ability to learn quickly. It is weekends and evenings so transport to and from Slough will be required, although we're near Burnham train station. The role is based in Slough Trading Estate and is paying a good hourly rate - most weeks you'll be able to get 20+ hours, I am forwarding the CVs to my colleague but can answer questions on the role as I've had to do it whilst understaffed. Would suit uni students or college goers with an interest in sport and IT.
  3. This is because the free space can't be ignored, the free space is encrypted too.
  4. Some of us in that situation would have done far worse than that! (RE mattx not j17sparky, lol) Then again, I've had cyclists ride diagonally across me and that is just as frustrating and dangerous - then wonder why you give them a verbal beatdown...
  5. We pay 14-16 for an IT tech, we are not a school or providing support. Will you offer mileage/expenses - we do for any travel and we've already outlined development for our newly employed tech. A local company is paying 15-18k who supports schools, they are based in Berkshire.
  6. Hello, We are employing apprentices for our our company and we want to offer the guys & girls a laptop to use. If any schools are considering bunging out any P4 or above laptops please PM me, and i'll offer an amount for them that's fair and either collect or pay postage. This is non-education but, if you're scrapping it - i'll take them off your hands for re-use and you can put some cash back into your budget. Will zero fill any drives. Similarly if you have a rack you're chucking out in fairly good condition and have a price in mind please PM me, coming here before I go to eBay. Thanks,
  7. IT Technician - SLOUGH Support, Database & Systems Admin Jobs Slough Reading
  8. Congratulations, you might win the race. <3 Only kidding, all your posts are gold - well thought out, balanced and worth reading.
  9. I had a play with RealSmart, a couple of the ex-Studywiz guys went over to RealSmart. Very nice, good gui but missing some of the core functions of the other VLEs (or at least was). Great for an art student portfolio, not so great for testing and bits like that.
  10. Sounds very silly but if you have teaming enabled - does it have a configurable mac address? Had a very similar issue with several supermicros... turned out that we had dup mac addresses from other teamed machines. Manually setting a mac address in the teaming options fixed it, try running arp -a and see if any duplicate macs.
  11. Get dual 5970s and in your idle time you can do some bitcoin mining to recoup the cost. It's better if you don't pay the electric bill though.
  12. I found the 'reactive' part of the depression to be a lot of poo, it doesn't go away it just gets more manageable. Similar situation to yours (not a competition or anything) and found 8 months later since the events happened the pain isn't so bad and the anger is subsiding. Change helps and at least you have lots of that to look forward to with moving out, plenty to focus on.
  13. Red hat cat linux
  14. Missy looked very fetching with the red hat, is that real or not... can't work it out, I want it to be...
  15. Don't you mean qualify?
  16. Did you test it wasn't working before rebooting or take the teacher at his/her word? Like House says, people are idiots.
  17. If she had a nunchuck in her other hand whilst holding the gavel, even better - 100% therial.
  18. She is a sexy lady, love a lady with power (even moreso if they have a gavel).
  19. This is how I currently do it, well slightly different reasons but /etc/fstab noauto then calling mount as and when needed (init.d in our case), works fine
  20. what happens when you ping and nslookup?
  21. Where is the server hosted? Have you tried internally to go direct to the IP/folder/ in your browser? tracert the fqdn domain, where does it stop?
  22. You forgot the HTs PA, Deputy Heads Admin assistant and the facilities manager
