Just to say that the queue email addresses do seem to be working now, my testing was not thorough enough and was masking an issue. One question, a technician can have a primary queue, or all queues. Is there a way we can specify which queues they have responsibility for (more than one but fewer than all). Thanks

Has anyone applied the update and resolved the queue email problem? I now have the extra fields for the extra addresses, but the queue addresses ( we are not polling ) are still not getting notifications of new tickets.

We've got the same issue with emails not being sent to the queue email addresses (though they do appear to go to the reporting user), whether they be single email addresses or distribution lists for multiple members of a team. Exchange 2003 being used internally. Already reported directly to OP support, but pending a response at the moment.

Just a thought, would limiting the number of users who can connect to the Terminal Server be acceptable to enforce a number of external CALs required?

I need some clarification as I can't find anything in the MS documentation I have found so far. I've counted up my FTE, and have the DsktpEdu licences, WinSrvrStd licences and SQLSvrStd per Processor licences sorted (I think). We also use a few Terminal Servers (Windows 2003) which we need CALs for. Will the WinRmtDsktpSrvcsCAL items cover this? Of these, one TS is available to staff via SSL VPN and one is available to students via SSL VPN. What is the coverage for external access (and how is it licensed/tracked)? Is it one CAL per user? There is no way all our students use this facility, so licensing all of them would be a killer. I've read that Windows VDA is included with the EES as part of Software Assurance, would this be a better way to provide external access (for free)? OWA is available also to all staff/students via the SSL VPN, is there an external licence for this or is that only required for non-staff/non-student access (which we don't have). Thanks Mark

Apple - OS X Lion and Lion Server - Up to Date Program

Use an old box and put Smoothwall Express on it (Express Open Source Firewall Project). From memory: Secondary Internet (ADSL) -> Belkin (you could leave DHCP on as it will NOT connect directly to your network, otherwise you need to set your red IP to one in the same subnet as the Belkin LAN IP) -> Red connection on Smoothwhall | Green connection on Smoothwall -> network. Go for a closed setup, then open the ports outbound as you see fit. You can restrict the IP addresses that are allowed to use it (restrict it to those you will assign manually to your own machines), and on those machines, change your gateway to that green IP of the Smoothwall. You'll need to config your Belkin before wiring it like this as you won't have access easily after this wiring. Let me know if you need further info, or check the SWE community forums. I've been playing around with a few models of netbook recently, the one we are settling on for the minute is the Acer EeePC 1001PX. It is currently uploading an image to our fog server, so I can confirm it boots OK, loads Fog, and seems to carry out the required functions. I'll post further to confirm a successful deployment to a freshly unpacked model in a wee while.

I contacted Casio, who told me to contact a UK distributor, who told me to contact my reseller, who is VERY kindly going through the forms for me. I can imagine if we ordered 20 units, it would take me a day to fill in the stupid forms. I'm sure that being a School if it came to year 4 and there was a problem they would honour the warranty, but I'm just trying to make sure.

I have received 5 of the XJ-A140 units this morning, and trying to be efficient (after having a play first) went to the site to register for the extended 5-year education warranty. Has anybody else done this? A 5-page questionnaire for EACH item!? Really, these are surely a huge seller in education, there must be a better way for Casio to allow us to register the serial numbers for the 5-year warranty without all this consumer/marketing/info-gathering nonsense.

I just open the Date/Time Preferences Panel, tick the box to set time automatically, and type in the IP of the DC (assuming it is providing time to the network) and press enter. Time should sync straight away.

AVG can be configured to auto scan USB drive upon insertion.

Line 1 says which the bootcamp partition is, line 2 says the user can choose, line three is just gloss as the title for the choice screen. Get a Mac set aside to play with, there are lots more options!

From the Winclone help files (http://www.twocanoes.com/winclone/WinCloneARDDeployment.pdf) diskutil resizeVolume / MS-DOS WINDOWS You'll need to do some math and conversion for your own partition sizes, and trial and error. To extract the image run exec /Users/Shared/WindowsXP.winclone/winclone.perl -self-extract But note the path depends where you copy the image to on the mac.

I haven't really had the chance to use deploy studio yet, it does seem a little daunting for some reason. Anyway, what I'm doing at the moment, once we have the Mac image deployed is to use ARD (Apple Remote Desktop). You can create the BootCamp partition with a single Unix command (takes a little working out to get the number of bytes correct!), send the Winclone image to a bank of Macs using the copy command, extract the Winclone image to the BC partition using another Unix command, install BootPicker using the installer in seconds, configure BootPicker with a few lines of Unix code. All the above only takes one visit (to actually put the Mac in place), we then revisit to add the Windows to the domain, but I know that can be automated, just not got round to it yet.

We have a new OSX SL server, which we are starting to integrate our Macs into the network with. I have got the Macs bound to AD and OD, and can log in as AD users without problem. I am also able to manage most of the desired items from the SL server. Couple of things: 1. We are managing the dock items, and seem able to mostly control the items to the left of the divide, but I'd like to have more control over the items to the right. I'd like the folders to show as folders, rather than as a stack. 2. To get the dock to be 'manageable' we had to hack around a bit. Here's what we did: - Managed the dock items within workgroup manager, but this merged the items with the default dock items. - Enabled root account, emptied the dock, added a shortcut to a Windows network share that all users use, copied the root dock plist to the user template (if you want to know paths just ask). - Log in as user and the dock displays just the icons assigned by workgroup manager, (but it adds the time machine icon?) Question - is there a better way to do this? 3. How can I hide the sidebar/all sidebar items on all the Macs? How should DNS be set up of the SL server? It appears to be working without it, but does it need it? SL server points to DNS on the AD DNS server, as do the Mac clients. Mac clients were bound to OD using IP. We've got good wireless coverage in many areas thanks to our Colubris/HP kit (controller plus APs). Some areas however have no coverage, and these areas are after laptops in banks of 16 which may be used in 4 or 5 classrooms. The layout of the rooms would mean that extending the coverage using more Colubris APs would cost almost £1500. I think a solution is to simply put an AP on the trolley, so the signal goes with the laptops. Can anyone recommend an AP that would be suitable for this, needs to support 16 connections, ideally with extra LAN ports so that I can plug the teacher PC into the back of it when in use so I don't have to put extra sockets in each room. Welcome to Google Business Solutions Click on local business centre, and you get to add details like map, full address, website etc. This will get your official details listed, and adding a web link will make it crawl the site too. You need to verify the listing, usually quickest using the PIN entry by automated call (you give them your official school number, it calls you, gives you a PIN, which you then type into the control panel). Works well, and will certainly allow people to find info about the school. I do it for my clients, as well as the school.

Silly thought but do you actually have a valid out going rule setup to allow port 80 traffic out? Some default 'closed' installs can be set with no outbound rules. Traffic could be getting in, but then having no route out again.

So which models are people looking at then? Bottom of the range 2000 lumens, or further up the (price) chain? I was also concerned about the warranty, but if it is 5 years for education, this school will be a new build in under 4 thanks to BSF.
