SLG is our way of giving Internet access to teachers, pupils & parents; the Teacher App does this too and for the ~2000 schools using SLG they won't have to pay any extra. BTW the Teacher App also utilises lots of the SLG routines. @GREED I do wonder if you have seen SLG lately? It is very attractive & highly usable including flight paths, homework setting, data collection sheets etc. I do still come across schools that haven't set it up to take advantage of the screens that were introduced years ago. After the Teacher App trial which is taking place shortly, it is possible that we will make some changes to ways that our products are sold.

I've double checked with the team. The current solution with SOLUS3 is to re-apply the update to the machine once the user is out of exams as this should fix the issue. You can’t easily do that in SOLUS2. Ideally we would look to improve SOLUS3 to handle this further but a solution hasn’t been looked at for this yet.

A little more detail from the service desk: What we can confirm is that basic .Net Framework 4.5.1 with no updates works with SIMS, however, a security update released by Microsoft causes a conflict As we don’t know which security update is causing the issue we can’t confirm anything in terms of dates compared to our testing etc (one of the comments on the post was regarding us not testing, we wanted to know if the update came out after the release which would mean that no amount of testing would have found it). The only other thing to say is SIMS is intended to work with .Net framework 4, and we see no need to upgrade to 4.5.1 so all our testing would be done using .Net framework 4… although other things on the same server might need it, and we don’t explicitly not support 4.5.1 The issue relating to .net framework 4.5.1 has been seen by the Service Desk and we have created a KB (KB404647) to allow us to keep everyone informed of the latest information and provide a basic workaround. This problem is very intermittent in its nature and has only occurs after an upgrade to .net 4.5.1 which we believe may be caused by a security update. To help us identify which update, and ultimately resolve the issue, can I please ask that you log incidents on the Service Desk ([email protected]) which will allow us to isolate where the issue is and then produce a permanent fix. At present we only have a few examples to work on, so the more information that we are provided with the quicker we can resolve it.

We have a very small number of cases raised on this issue but cannot reproduce the issue which makes it very difficult to resolve. There seems to be a security addition in 4.5.1 that affects certain sites.

It happens when someone is still logged into Exams. If I recall SOLUS3 fixes it.

You can create a number of dynamic groups with ranges of points. That way you get notifications for certain thresholds. From summer you will also be able to combine a number of dynamic groups into a single one as well.

The role of an LA is to advise schools that don't have experience & resources on which system best suits their needs. Secondary schools will generally have expertise but that's harder to come by in primary schools simply because they don't employ as many people.

I can't help on the installation issue but I do wonder if your setup is pointing to our first gen release? The new stuff is highly graphical and includes homework setting and marking. We've been holding sessions across the country and have been found quite a number of schools that weren't aware that things have moved on.

Old pupils have a right to expect their old school to be able to give references. Indy schools still get requests after 20 years!

On SLG there isn't an auto save although that's coming. This could account for lost marks if people don't save and the connection goes down.

I'm pretty sure there aren't many cases of this happening or there would be a solution in preparation. I will check.

Just for the record, Capita had to compete to get onto the RM framework. Other suppliers can be subcontracted by the companies that also won a place on the RM framework.

Dragging Discover groups is in summer.

Sorry I was incorrect; we tried doing multiple select but in trials found that users found it too fiddly. From the summer release it will be possible to drag multiple items into a group and then drop that group onto any other group. So pick up Yr 8 and drag to a new group then pick up Yr 9 etc.

Getting beyond my knowledge! I suspect you multi-select using the shift click! You can delete a series once you have several on a graph.

Bring down the year group graphs. Multiple select those that you want. Drop it onto the attendance graph. You can then save that set-up if you want to.

STAR is Student, Teacher Academic Records. It dates back to when SIMS was a single module that did everything.

We do track changes to attendance data which is statutory and assessments. Tracking behaviour is not a statutory requirement and deletions are not tracked; auditing is a matter of balance and at the time we implemented behaviour, did not consider tracking to be a high priority. Several schools have reported suspicions that data has been tampered with. We will consider introducing auditing in the future.

I don't think it is necessary to export to loads of spreadsheets If you don't get help here try on Support Net where there are many AM experts.
