Update. Managed to get to Costco without a red light coming on. Topped up with plenty synthetic oil at about £25 for 5ltr. Made a trip to and from Cwmbran with no problems.

I have had the red light come on a number of times whilst I have had it, topping it up has done the trick. It's a useful car for carrying building materials but if it came to it I could get those delivered so as not to ruin a better car. Memory problems means I can't remember what oil I use on the earlier occasions.

It's okay it doesn't scare me, it will just bring forward getting a newer car, it has to happen soon.

I have to get it pretty quick so will try Costco, then I have to do a motorway journey. The light came on just before I parked up this morning.

Anyone know what oil I need for a Rover 200 TDi? Every promising search result is blocked here.
