Long gone are the days when people bought phones to make phone calls, now they buy to not make phone calls. -

As stupid as they actually are. Why are people still buying these phones? -
Driving across the Severn crossing about 11pm the rain was horizontal. The drivers side wiper then decided to join the door mirror. I had to drive a reasonably distance from a lorry to get to a safe spot to open the window and push it back onto the windscreen. Great fun.

I used to work in CAD a few years ago and most architects don't think full stop! We had someone who regularly went over the drawing and pointed out their errors.

This reminds me of France in teh 70's. We had 2 weeks in a French army barracks, the chippies built some frames for us to sit on while we were there. How can you squat reading the paper or magazines for half an hour. You'd have thighs like an Elephant. -
No one has ever been taught better because the building looks nice. EDIT: And that Architect's comments prove it.

I find that attitude disgusting. I know someone (not in the UK) who started a school in her garage. Her school has grown to 6 concrete block buildings. It does have a nice view of the local mountains but in heavy hailstorms you can't hear due to to ice the size of marrow fat peas hitting the tin roof. But people come from thousands of miles away to teach there. That is what the job is about.
-
And they say we don't take education for granted. I'll teach, if it's in a nice place. Unfortunately NOT unbelievable.
-
Different teams though. They don't do much crossover, if any.

It's the Capita Unicorn, it would be really great to see but it's not real.

Go for it and good luck, we all have to start somewhere.

or the electrician working here might be able to reach the server. What's he doing? Not sure he has turned all the power off and gone into one of the classrooms.
-
A number of flaws spring to mind. When you get answers such as.... What do you mean by machine? Is the server that big computer we are told not to switch off? Can someone else get SIMS on my PC? All real responses.
-
Nah, simpler would be 'I retract my staement that SIMS can be completely mastered in a week' That way you would become credable again.
-
There is a flowchart? Show me, now!!! I've ben using my brain, after so much banging in a desk it doesn't work as it used to.
-
It is for the job too. So many people do not listen to what is said, bit like this thread really.

A support team who you have told that you are completely competant after reading the manual. Make sure buy a very large Humble Pie. It's amazing today how the point of this thread is zooming like Harriers over peoples head. To summarise...... 1. The OP probably doesn't need a great knowledge of SIMS and may never use SIMS. 2. You cannot learn SIMS in a week. 3. You should not try to bluff your way through and interview.
-
Again, the OP asked a question it was answered in a way to claim if he was competant enough that learning SIMS in a week was possible. That claim has been refuted. I for one would not like the OP going to an interview claiming to be completely competant with SIMs from the manual. Better that he find out to what degree a knowledge of SIMS is desirable, a simple email would do this. Better still that they do not believe that on getting the job he could learn it in a couple of days. It is quite obvious that it is not a SIMS job and he will not need to know it inside out. But a unrealistic expectation of picking up SIMS that quick should not be made on a forum such as this. I believe from what I have read that the OP is intelligent enough to realise this but other people could read the 'Be a SIMS expert in a week' posting.
-
You are missing the point, which is the claim that someone could learn SIMS 'completley' in a week. They can't. therefore there is no point in the OP planning to attend an interview (which I'm sure he/she will not) believing they are an expert in SIMS by reading a manual.

Well, why then have I had to do it all for the last 30 odd years?
