Hi Iain The item-level permissions section should be between content types, and attchments. What kind of list did you create? What version of sharepoint is it? (Foundation, Standard, Enterprise)?

On the list settings, you should also see the option to edit own items (not list permissions or site settings, but list settings - confused me the first time.), advanced settings, then in item-level permissions. (note that this is for lists - document libraries dont have this feature)

I've been trialling a Lync implementation here. The primary aim is to replace an aging (and fully used) telephone system. The added bells and whistles (video, whiteboard etc) will be a bonus. It's very difficult to get (teaching) staff to see it as primarily a business tool, and not a video conf toy.

working a treat at the moment - only 1 failure due to low disk space (my machine - doh). SCCM power management wakes the clients up at 7:50, wsus installs start at 7:55, machines done and nodding off by the time the users come along. Next challenge - IE9 on Monday!

so far so good - no deployment issues via wsus. as far as sp1 goes we've not had any issues on our manually installed PCs (touch wood)

RDP'd into client machine and forced update from wsus 8 updates including SP1 Service Pack Installer started at 20:35:50 Service Pack Installer finished at 20:52:44 Restart takes 1 min 30s. /edit: not quite finished - rdp's back in and it's on stage 3 of 3, assembling service pack. expecting a long wait Another reboot and finished at 21:14

Yes. the most expensive part of the deal will probably be sql server. (you'll need SQL server reporting services for the reports. these include graphs which component isn't included in sqlexpress)

Does he/she stare at the sun too?..... We always re-inforce basic training when putting standard throw projectors into classrooms - what at the board, back to the projector, step to the side then turn. I always thought these complaints were a mountain out of a molehill - i remember one educator from a previous employer insisted on wearing sunglasses.

Is anyone else using this to power manage machines? I'm doing it over 300 pcs and looking to save (estimated) £5000. We're backing it up with actual meter readings and it's looking good so far. Built in reports have default values a little over what we have (our new HP 8000 Elite desktops draw 30w but the reports have 70). Our actual usage is probably higher, but using the newest power units as a default value means that our savings are worst case scenario. CO2 saved has doubled and the reports and meter readings will be used by our eco-schools kids.

We changed from Phoenix Gold to PASS in the summer - we also took the staff and parent portals. We're now running with 3sys Academic as pass.web (staff portal) was far too slow and cumbersome. Thankfully they've rebranded and the purple/orange logo is being fazed out. The downside is we've been running web based reporting and management dashboards for years (and I've been writing/designing them for at least the last 10 years) and not one MIS i've seen comes remotely close. For schools which have come from a non-web based background, it will seem quite good. For those who have had some web based system may seem like a step back.

Have you enabled the 'software updates client agent' ? We had originally set it via GPO but it magically detected that WSUS was on the SCCM box (im guessing through the sccm client) and the voodoo kicked in.
