I doubt anyone is still using these, but I am having an issue with Windows 7 64 bit and some Acer Veriton L670G PCs. Interestingly they have a very old BIOS (R01-A1 dated 11/10/2008) installed and the latest on the Acer website (P01-A0 dated 2011/07/12) is not compatible for some reason. Just wondered if anyone ever encountered a similar problem?

[ipad] Apple iTunes Two Step Authentication
CommodoreS replied to CommodoreS's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Firstly, these were bought from a reseller that is not part of DEP. Secondly people are moving away from Apple School Manager which does not inspire confidence. Thirdly I am using managed distribution through VPP for the Apps and not redeem codes. Lastly I will take pictures tomorrow to show you what happens on non-DEP devices. Both iTunes and App Store on the iPad needs to sign in or the iPad will keep on prompting to be signed in. Meraki also needs to be signed into. We are however going a tad off track as my question was just regarding two step authentication for the iTunes and App Store account - Not the VPP one and nothing to do with DEP.... -
Thank you. I hope you don't mind me asking but where have they placed the new(ish) feature that allows you to completely hide/disable apps except settings located?

[ipad] Apple iTunes Two Step Authentication
CommodoreS replied to CommodoreS's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
No offence mate, but Apple School Manager is not for everyone and this falls into that category with older devices that were purchased pre-DEP. See: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/netbooks-pda-phones/170186-apple-school-manager.html#post1498561 where you can see people have been moving back from Apple Schools Manager to a AC2 and Meraki based solution. I am using VPP and they are all supervised, but the iPads still prompt to sign into an account as they were purchased pre-DEP and are not DEP devices. -
Is this using the free version of Meraki? If so then do you know where I can find a guide of how to do this please? I have searched but all searches have just found answers like this: Can Meraki put VPP Apps into folders ? ? Systems Manager Support Community saying no, it can't be done. If there is a way I'd love to know how as I just created a post asking this. Many Thanks.

Is there any way to do iPad Shortcut Grouping when using Meraki? Before using Meraki I had backed one up and restored it to the rest. I then noticed as a result the iPads were constantly asking for the iTunes password to be re-entered on a regular basis, and guessing this was something to do with restoring the config to different iPads like this. I'd really like a method that will work with Meraki and also so the iPads do not constantly keep asking for the iTunes Password all the time.

I am reconfiguring the iPads to use Meraki and The schools iTunes E-Mail account has two step Authentication set up. I configured Apple Configurator 2 to Disable iTunes Store. As a result when entering the iTunes account details the iPads are trying to access the iTunes store setup in settings to confirm the two step authentication and failing to do this as I Disabled iTunes Store in Configurator 2. The only solution I can find is to enable the iTunes Store on them again to be able to perform two step authentication when setting up the account. Seems like a major flaw to me. I really don't want the iTunes Store accessible or enabled on these. Does anyone know a way around this please?

I have been trying to find fileset 404 but I cannot find it. Has anyone else had the same problem?

The camera App is a default Apps. I am getting this and all other default Apps show on a Apps folder on the Classic Shell start menu as a administrator. I am using start menu server redirection for users via GPO, so they are not seeing the default Apps icons that come with windows 10. I was hoping there would be a way to manually create a icon for the Camera App and place it on the server share with other icons so they get it through the start menu too.

I have some Windows 10 tablets running Windows 10 Pro, that I have configured with Classic Start Menu. They have a camera on both sides. Is there an easy way to deploy the Camera App to all tablets through GPO and also add a shortcut in the Classic Start Menu for the camera App please?

I am in Essex using the internet provided by the local CC. I loaded 8 iPads onto Meraki. Eight worked fine with no problems and Apps downloaded. But Three are showing the error: Unable to Download Apps "Meraki Systems Manager" and 48 other items could not be downloaded at this time. All are identically configured using Apple Configurator 2. I have tried turning them off and on with no luck, so I tried bringing one home and it has connected immediately to Meraki and downloaded all the apps without any errors, which leads me to think its being blocked by the internet connection in the school. I have contacted the internet support and they are telling me they think its an internal local problem but I can not see how. Has anyone else (especially in Essex) encountered any similar problems and get it resolved, rather than having to the the iPads home to download and update?

WSUS using 200GB for just Win 7 and Office 2010
CommodoreS replied to CommodoreS's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Well thats interesting - As mentioned above I just took the tick out the box of Office 2010 and ran the cleanup wizard again and the size is still showing exactly the same at 200GB. This means if you remove a product and then run the wizard it will not remove updates for the product you have removed and will keep them there. This would explain why the updates folder is still so large. So does anyone know a way around this - deleting the updates in WSUS for removed products without a complete uninstall and reinstall? -

CommodoreS replied to CommodoreS's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Yes, the built in tools did remove some stuff (found a website which says what order to run it in to stop timeouts), but am wondering if deselecting products whether the cleanup tool will also remove updates for the deselected products. 200GB still seems far too large though for just Win 7 and Office 2010 English and nowt else. I guess I could try removing Office 2010 and seeing if that removes any more and then re-add it to see. -

CommodoreS replied to CommodoreS's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
The WSUSContent folder is over 200GB and only English Language is selected. It just does not seem to be removing updates for Windows XP or older versions of Office. I have already also tried running several powershell scripts and the same size. As I said before - all classifications except "feature packs" and "upgrades" are selected. Does Tools use a large chunk up then? -
WSUS updates are using 200GB here. I recently removed a lot of unneeded older software (older versions of Office and Windows XP) and ran the cleanup wizard but it did not seem to remove much. I have it set up for all classifications except "feature packs" and "upgrades" and only have "Windows 7" and "Office 2010" selected as products, but 200GB seems awfully large just for these. I do not really want to have to uninstall and reinstall this to check and wondered if this size was normal or it has not removed old updates and if there is another way to remove them please.

I have set up Meraki, however the iPads are now showing a time of 09:15AM. It is currently 17:15PM. I found the option in Merki Menu - Systems Manager>Configure>General > Network Time Zone and changed this to Europe - London (UTC +0.0) where the Meraki Dash Board now shows the correct time, but the iPads are still showing an 8 hour time difference. Please could anyone let me know if there might be another setting somewhere which is causing the problem (possibly in Apple Configurator 2 instead?)

I am still having this problem and wondered if anyone had any ideas please. I had managed to resolve it by removing the LAN cable at that point during the build where it was then continuing with the build process, but it is now displaying an error if it times out or a LAN cable is removed at that point of the build.

I am using WDS for deployment but having the same problem. Its getting stuck on Receiving Drivers and timing out. I am using Win PE3.1 to try and built a Windows 7 32 Bit machine with a Realtek LAN Card. The odd thing is this was working, no changes have been made and now it is not working. I don't have access to TEC1562348. Any advice or help would be appreciated as to how others resolved this problem.

CC4 Station Build - Realtek Network Card
CommodoreS replied to CommodoreS's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Thanks for reply. I'll be honest and say the support contract has just ended, but not worth signing up for another year as a new system is shortly being installed. I think its a problem with an old version of Windows PE 2 trying to be used. I am guessing the network card is not detected in Windows Vista or another issue with the build manager that stops it from being seen. Vista drivers for the NIC where loaded, but like I say it just was not seeing the network card, rather than not seeing the drivers. Tried it with Windows PE 3.1 where it is now seeing the network card, but still not seeing the drivers. I left the server installing the latest Realtek 8168 windows 7 32 bit drivers tonight. For some reason these seem to take an age to load and had not loaded by the time I left. if worse comes to worse I will smartclient, but last smartclient I tried fell over. -
I am trying to build a Fujitsu A514 onto a CC4 network. I have added Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller drivers, created a new custom build disk and updated WDS to use the new disk for F12 building. But the network card is not showing in diagnostics - Only the Wireless Network Card is showing. In installed devices it is showing as a PCI device and not a network card and I am wondering if thats what the problem might be. Card is a Realtek 8168. Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168 Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and has a possible solution. I also tried disabling the wireless in the BIOS, and only difference that made is its now not showing in Network adaptors. I am guessing it would still be showing in network adaptors (in diagnostics) even if it did not have drivers available and that is not happening.

I could be wrong, but as far as I was aware the Capita Support was mandatory in order to get the SIMS and FMS updates throughout the year. If you could PM me the name of the company use that would be useful. Do they provide Technical as well as usage support? As far as I can see all the companies that offer SIMS\FMS support also require a SIMS\FMS support contract in addition to their support costs, which would make things more expensive rather than cheaper. It could also be a case of things usually being cheaper in the North

I am wondering if there are any online videos\guides anywhere on the best way to configure iPads using AC2 and Meraki as the MDM for shared use iPads. Specifically I would also like to group Apps into subject folders, without having to do this on each iPad individually. Like above DEP is not an option. Is there any reason why DEP is restricted to iPads purchased from Apple and participating Apple Authorized Resellers. It seems a little restrictive, and I am guessing those iPads have no physical differences.

I have some iPads in a small primary school which are currently just being managed using Apple Configurator (1). After recently reloading them, and all the new IOS updates, they are now constantly asking for the iCloud password to be entered, despite having entered it. iCloud is only being used for Find My iPad to find them if they went missing. I can't find anywhere to turn off the iCloud sign in notifications or any information as to why they seem to keep asking for the iCloud password to be entered so often. Just wondered if anyone else has seen this or has any ideas. I have turned off iCloud for now, as it was making them unusable.

Thank you for quick reply. I am looking at whatever option would reduce the support fees, but like you say a lot has to be taken into consideration such as time saved with SIMS\FMS being compatible and retraining costs for a new system. It would also have to be Target Tracker compatible. The school is a very small county primary with shared year classes - 4 Classes for years 1 to 6 and a reception class. Considering this, it would also have to be something Essex County Council agrees to that can be used and they seem to be very pro Capita SIMS and FMS. I did not realise you could have FMS separate from SIMS, but from enquires I have made it seems that other schools are all being charged different amounts for their yearly support. Also wondering if there is anything I should specifically look at BETT next year, that might also have a special offer on around that time. From what I remember this year there was a few companies offering these types of products, but I did not pay too much attention or get details as that was not something that was being looked into.
