You can map smb file shares on a chromebook but it's not the nicest of user experiences imo (How to setup network file shares on a Chromebook)

We use Papercut's Mobility Print for printing from Mac's, iPads & Chromebooks here. Have it running on the same print server that PaperCut MF is running from.

We've had a bunch of Lenovo 15 G3's have served us well. The 17" version here may be a good option.

Hello all, My setting has now signed up to the J2E VLE for ICT. We are a Google Workspace school for the pupils and I have successfully created all pupils a J2E account by using the 'Sync with Google' option. Nice and easy! I also user Locker Connect, to automatically create the pupil's Google Workspace accounts accounts once they appear in ScholarPack and suspend leavers etc. However, Locker can only add new create accounts to OU's, NOT pre existing ones! J2E sees Google's organisational units as the pupil's classes, so this is perfect for assigning work to the correct classes etc. My last missing part of the puzzle is... is there a way to automate adding pupil accounts to their correct classes' organisational units? At the moment I'm having to pull all the form registers from ScholarPack and manually type the OU in to Google users bulk update csv. (e.g. Organisational Unit: Accounts/Pupils/Lions) This isn't the end of the world, but it's bound to end up missing mid-term starters out of their classes' OU, and doesn't help with end of term wrap up of accounts. Any ideas for a good workflow for this is appreciated... I don't mind doing it manually if I can figure out a nice workflow. Do any of you add pupils in to OU's based on registration groups? Do any alternative providers to Locker Connect like Salamander provide the ability to do this?

OBS Studio for live streaming. If you're looking at using more than one camera, a Blackmagic ATEM Mini would give you 4 HDMI inputs and a live switcher. There's also the extreme model for 8 inputs. Do some research on what cameras will suit your use case the best and make sure they have a clean HDMI output, so it doesn't output the screen's burn in data to your broadcast. You can check HDMI outputs of certain camera models here: Elgato Camera Check I have a Sony A6000 as a HQ camera for projects needing depth of field and a Canon Legria HF R806 camcorder for making the most out of digital zoom.

FTP using Foldr was great for this a while back, before our pupils were on Google Workspace.

If you have AirDrop disabled for pupils like we do, perhaps a way you could do this would be to upload the video file to your website/vimeo/unlisted youtube (depending on the content of course) then share the URL of the video as a home screen shortcut in your MDM. I do this on our Lightspeed MDM in Policies > Web Shortcuts.

I currently pay for Netflix, Amazon, Discovery+ (with ads ) and Disney+. Got me thinking... I couldn't tell you the last time I logged in to any of them to binge a TV show. Perhaps MoonKnight on Disney back in march?! I suppose I'd had cancelled months ago if it wasn't for the family password sharing. Very tempted to cancel all apart from Amazon for shopping and use the saved ££ for a NAS to run Plex!

Hi folks, Did anyone else end up with TravelMate B118's from the DfE get help with technology scheme? Our allocation was plentiful so we ended up with around 60x 8th Gen iPads (saved us replacing all of Y6's 2nd Gen iPad Mini's woohoo). I ordered 60 of the Lenovo 300e Chromebooks which have been a fantastic little bit of kit! However, we only ended up with 30 odd Lenovo's and got lumped with 30 odd Acer TravelMate B118s. These TravelMate's are woeful, has anyone actually got them working happily? and for an extended period of time? For me they take an eternity just to open up Microsoft Edge, 100% CPU usage from startup :faint:Complete E-Waste. I think I'll have to install Chrome OS Flex on to these, as it's a Godsend! Our 10+ Year old Satellite Pro's are still going strong with Chrome OS installed over the last 3 years! luckily our school has kept the pupil's on Google Workspace. If anyone comes across an Acer TravelMate as a gift, freebie, hand me down, in a skip... avoid them like the plague!

We've used VNC Viewer flawlessly here for 6+ years. Using it in classrooms to broadcast whatever is on the teacher's desktop over to the iPads, with keyboard/mouse control disabled on the server (teacher's dekstop) side. Inside our iPad MDM - Lightspeed - You can use the Lock iPad feature and write a message on the home screen, 'return to IT office' etc.

Hello! Tech in need here. Over the last few years, we've had Promethean ActivPanel Titanium 65's installed around most classrooms. Absolutely fantastic, can't fault them! This summer we've had 2 ActivPanel Nickel 75's installed and they are causing me a lot of grief. The pen/finger input is SO laggy when using ActivInspire on the Windows desktop. However when using the onboard Android whiteboard app, the input is perfect. It makes modeling writing/maths etc. so difficult! So far in my troubleshooting I have tried; 1080p 60hz (recommended) on Mirrored and also extended Used a new USB cable, new HDMI cable, bypassed the cable extension and plugged directly in to the board ActivDriver updated to the latest version ActivInspire updated to the latest version Board's firmware updated to the latest version Tried a new laptop, as well as macbook I am getting incredibly frustrated with Promethean's support slow response time on emails, as well as being fobbed off with 'we'll raise this with 2nd line support' when calling their support line, then hearing nothing back. Has anyone experienced this? Do you have any more troubleshooting tips? I've hit a roadblock with this!

15JBloggs etc. for the naming format here. I use Locker to sync ScholarPack MIS to G Suite, very handy interface to sync accounts for new starters, mid term leavers, summer roll up.

We've recently switched from roaming profiles to local profiles with folder redirection policy. Main thing to note, staff were forced to stop using network shared drives to dump 100's of gb's of crud and rely on Teams Desktop/OneDrive for sharing between colleagues. There will also be a reliance on OneDrive now that our trust have issued a ban on removable storage... I'm sure everyone will adhere to that! Working as you've described it, local profile grabs the desktop from a StaffProfiles share on the server. It has saved many headaches of old users logging in here, there and everywhere with mashooive roaming profiles eating away at our 256gb ssd's!
