By the time HTML5 is mainstream we will be on the iPad 8G and they will have introduced a new shiny 0.1MP camera without a flash (thats the 8G+ model of course)........

... thats not the same, having an interactive whiteboard didn't help people design the concorde either nor did the iPad. computers on the other hand I agree are totally useful, but its the "alternative" technologies which are developed for lessons I don't personally agree with. My point being that why would an interactive tablet be of use to a classroom when compared to alternative methods which cost a bit of ink and paper. Or why buy an interactive whiteboard to end up showing a powerpoint and using the pen to move slides along... BTW im not saying that technology is bad, far from it, its the techs in lessons im reffering to.

Does technology like this REALLY improve lessons though? Can you say that people educated before computers had a worse education? Are they currently unable to speak to eachother due to lack of blogging ability? I think not. I do think though, that we are raising children today, to be shut away from REAL human contact and are instead relying on technology to fill the gap IE. instant messenger and those terrible voting systems that I keep hearing about... what is wrong with a show of hands these days??!?!? Quite honestly how is a graphical tablet going to improve the education of anyone apart from Steve Job's children....

Hi everyone! I have a query re: filter rules in a Smartcache (which I believe may apply to other filtering solutions too) http://www.alltheweb.com:*cat=img* In an RM article I have noticed the above as an example to filter the image section of alloftheweb.com My question is..... what is that colon doing there!!! I can't seem to find any reference to a colon in the address of the site so I am thinking it has some sort of wildcard function?! Or am I completely wrong (Highly likely!)

Its not true that all OEM disks will activate either, they will accept the key but usually will fall short of actually completing the Genuine Windows activation. It basically depends on the Manufacturer key embedded in the OEM disc. On the COA you will probably notice it says Microsoft Windows XP Home / Pro etc Advent or DSG Or something along those lines, they are basically PC World / DSG own brand.... Saying all that though, the OEM disk is the place I would start, and if not take it to PC world as they usually have a collection of Advent discs which they may be able to use to fix it (ASK FOR A QUOTE BEFORE LETTING THEM DO WORK!!!!) Drivers for Advent PCs are a bit random as they are often rebranded other models. Support.PCWorld.co.uk has a lot of them but they are often wrong lol 99% of the time I managed to find the drivers required on this site or other manufacturers sites, when I worked there (PC World) though.

Doesn't AVC free work for you? Any video converter can convert anything I have needed and there is a free version which just comes up with a messagebox on completion. Free Video Converter - Any Video Converter Free Version - convert video to any formats, avi to MPEG, avi to MP4, flv to MPG

I had a similar problem found out it was to do with a Kontiki p2p thingy that the iPlayer and 4oD used to use. Was causing near on full cpu usage on going to the desktop which meant nothing ever got displayed, Msconfig + 15 mins later all was well

Yeah there is a codec on the flip itself, its just not open source. It will install the direct show filter required to play the videos.

Mmmm if I was given one of these the wireless would be turned off straight away so I could get more life out of the battery... I mean there is a whole day of school you would be needing it to be lasting for while listening to music.... -
My thoughts would be parse the string in the text box before the SQL query is run. By parsing the text string you could remove any charachters which are illegal

Can some people test this for me please!

It works here, IE6 and XPsp2 Looks very similar to the scorm player in Fronter which is icodeon i think. We had an issue with a SCORM package, we raised a call with Fronter to be told, the SCORM compliant package is not compatible... (or compacktable was the exact phrase used in the email lol) SCORM. I didn't think CC4 used many of the features of AD now, thought they had customised things with a POSTGRES database?

Internal links created when you make the pages on a local machine are kept. All my pages are made using notepad on my hard drive and uploaded using the java applet. Then change the homepage and it works. Well it works Fronter style ( back to Fronter my collegue calls it )
-
Add a custom tool to the room tool package (ARGGG STUPID NAMES) and put that tool to the top of the tool menu i believe The pic is our VLE its a page I made for Fronter using notepad (I have no HTML editor lol) Oh and the red crosses are the standard pictures not loading problem!!
-
Yeah, I can handle a little blip here and there, but considering the way you have to edit pages IE. Goto the room you need to edit Click edit tickbox (someone teach the fronter guys some basic GUI programming please) Drop down the arrow click edit Edit the page Save the page Untick the edit box If each of these steps take even 10 seconds to load it means you have 1 min of waiting around just to edit a page. Added in the page errors means I have to save my work every few mins or face the wrath of the failed upload!!!
