WoW is awesome and will steal your life.... It has text chat in game which you can talk to factions and groups and your nearby players. You can also use voice chat in party mode. The game is not that violent but involves "questing" and killing beasts etc.

Yes I have to admit I was a bit skeptical when I heard about this rumour! I think the rumour has been effectively destroyed in this thread haha

128bit windows - Google Search Lol yeah I realise it does seem a bit crazy, seems there might have been rumblings of it at M$ headquarters. I think it has more benefits in terms of other things like 4D vectors being able to put 4 32bit ints into a register or somthing has some weird benefits over 64 bit. The RAM thing would be insane though, even Norton 360 would escape being a memory hog!!

Its not the processor cannot do it, its that they havent written it into the OS. For 32 bit windows its the NTVDM (virtual DOS machine) that does 16 bit processing I believe. I had heard (Via an RM conference I am shamed to say) that 7 will be the last 32 bit OS from M$ and they will be looking at 128bit for the next OS. Not sure how much truth is in that but it will be interesting.

I use 64 bit at home, if we used 64 bit here, first off a lot of our PCs do not have 64 bit capable chips so would not work, and also we use XP and XP64 is not good! I find for home use 64 bit is great, more memory , but apart from that you wouldn't notice the difference.

Ours has the same layout as yours the class groups being in branch 6 - Imported groups. Weird wonder why that isn't woirking then!! Will have to get in touch with Fronter. (LA's idea of support is, here is Fronters telephone number....) Ta for your help at least I know it is possible to do what we wanted now, even if its not working currently!!

This is exactly what I wanted to do but when I searched for the groups created by the MIS it only shows each individual user and the All Staff and All Students groups. Mmm I'm wondering if our import hasn't worked correctly then if you can search that as its what I was hoping I could do!! So when you click customise access you can select the group created by the MIS (is it SIMS you use?) and it will automatically sort permissions etc. Can a student who isn't part of that group see the hand in folder, or are only folders the student is able to use visible?

Heloooooooo, Has anyone here managed to use hand in folders effectively in Fronter? I am finding it rather difficult to use due to the way we have fronter set up (Let me expand on that!) We have rooms set up which all students have read only access to. We have not used the SIMS rooms as there are litterally hundreds of them and copying and keeping that many rooms up to date is unworkable. Currently we have 1 room for each subject which in the student resources folder we have a folder structure which some resources (powerpoints etc). Due to this we have a kind of all or nothing approach to the hand in fodlers, either the whole school can hand work in or we have to individually select students to hand work in! Which is silly considering it has to be done every time there is a new assignment!!!!

Short answer, its not legal. Needs to be apple 'branded' hardware. If that means more than sticking an apple sticker on your laptop, or branding it with a hot iron im not sure!! If you wanna have a play search for "Hackintosh" on Google but be prepared for not everything to work! I beleive the main project behind the efforts is called OSx86 and their site has a compatability list for a whole load of laptops.

You using the codec from the camera itself? 3vidX codec, its located in one of the subfolders of the cameras (Only works with non HD ones)

We ahve the codec installed on machines and they can edit the video using Windows Movie Maker without conversion. Just need to be taken off the machines from the DCIM folder like a digital camera. The students seem to know what they are doing better than most teachers lol Files are pretty big so they are usually deleted when not required anymore. We had a big video project last year and the kids seemed to really enjoy it.

I was used to not getting pay rises, in PC world I had the same pay for 3 yrs they didn't increase the scales of pay once while I was there.... No cost of living or anything! Strange, you are not installing custom drivers are you for the mice? the default Windows ones shouldn't require you to do that we have not come across that problem at all before.
