What about all the millions of people who work a LONG way from home, the structure of this country does not allow for everyone to work in the town they live in its just far too crowded, inflated prices in cities mean that people can't live there and instead its cheaper to commute. There is no perfect solution to any of this, but one way of making people feel better is to make them feel like they are more in control of their own money, and adding MORE taxes which then get pushed into the pile of wasted public sector projects is just not a good way of doing it.

Wish I could get on a bike to work! I drive 37 miles each way petrol prices are crippling! When I started here a year and a bit ago petrol was at 89p/l now its 1.20p/l a 25% rise!!!

Well I had awful problems when I was trying to update laptops up in that area, they are ususally ok in small numbers. I have just mapped out all the AP's locations and channels and it seems a few of the channels are overlapping a little too much for my liking. Will have to manually configure the channels and see how it goes.

haha just press around the touchpad to see if its pressure on the face plate that is causing it. Post above is v correct about sensitivity, this can cause issues where leaning on the faceplate can cause a mouse press. Reducing sensitivty may sort some of the issues out.

Have you 'massaged' around the touchpad to see if its loose connections on behalf of the touchpad cable?

Usually due to people touching the touchpad lightly during typing. Try seeing if the laptops have a 'disable the touchpad' button, sometimes it is just a square symbol.

I am just looking through the access points around the school and seeing what kind of signal quality we are getting to our stations. There are a load of stats available to look at on the AP's (which are D-Link 7100AP from RM). On a few of our AP's the Recieve Success rate is as low as 2%. What settings are good indicators of problems which could be present on the wireless infrastructure? I have just been looking at our faster wireless areas and the Recieve Success rate is at 91%. Is this a good place to start looking for problem areas or are there better ways of diagnosing wireless connection issues?

Programming Language Popularity Probably quite a good example. I guess your right, there is no industry standard as such. I do admit C# has gained huge popularity, but I do express concern over M$ and their sneaky ways of gaining market lock in!! Mono is a x-platform .NET equivalent, but it is not 100% and without being cautious you could easily lock yourself into Win32.

its called genengine on sourceforge its a dx9 engine atm just adding a windowing class. done an openal audio wrapper and xercesc wrapper forit also. unfortunately now comes the part of designing the game! btw u can svn it from sourceforge if u wanna see it

do think about the fact that if you learn c# that you are committing yourself to windows. (same for vb also but the learning curve is shorter) c++ is industry standard, and it is that for a reason. do think of your purpose of wanting to program. my reason is games as i am in the progress of writing one atm, 12000 lines and counting!

The thought of having a nice sleek looking media centre box and then having a huge nubbin out the side for TV tuner doesn't really appeal! Its really hard to find a good one of those I had a look at making one but getting a case is really hard plus its hard to find a decent TV tuner that will fit as well!!!

Wow our CC3 logons vary hugely. Seems to be very much related to HDD + RAM speed as some of our older machines are over 5 mins still. Our awesome laptops for teachers (1.7celerons + 256 RAM) border on the 20 minute mark!! Even on the new machines the HDD thrashes for a good 30 secs on the initial logon. Subsequent logons are similar to yours though, 10 - 15 seconds.

I would suggest that what ever your looking into, start basic and work up. Its all well and good starting with the visual languages but try creating console programs first, experimenting with input and outputs and getting to grips with the std:: libs etc. If you go straight into visual programming with c++ you will miss out on some important lessons and will find programs very hard to debug.
