Yeah we do what Simsperm does through GPOs. We also created a scheduled task to update SIMS as otherwise it asks for a username and password 3 or 4 times during the update which is rather annoying!!

Yeah its odd isn't it!! I checked the max connections and its already set to maximum. Just had another email from staff with the same problem! Seems to be related to Error 0x80070035 Network path not found or Windows 7 looses access to network share when disconnect from wired connection both look really odd though!! Considering moving the share to a 2008r2 server as it was in the original plan anyhow. So far Windows 7 has been such a pain to implement, so many little niggles its actually ridiculous!!

Oh yeah everything else works fine, internet, other network shares, just the one mapped share (that we have noticed so far, Windows 7 has only been in place for 3 weeks...). The server can be reached on other shares so its not related to DNS

No its strange as the devices will work then suddenly stop. Only a reboot sorts it, logging on and off doesn't seem to let it reconnect. The leases are over a day for both DHCP and DNS so it shouldn't be that, also another share on the same server works :s

Hi all, Strange problem which has arisen from installing Windows 7. Some users are experiencing a problem where a mapped drive will suddenly disappear and will refuse to reconnect. Unfortunately it is the staff shared drive so it is quite annoying!! The server is a 2003 server with offline caching turned off. What is odd is that the share will not reconnect at all, the drive mappings are set as persistent so in theory should reconnect when disconnected. However it just doesn't try and errors with Network Path Not Found. Anyone else seen this?

Out of curiosity are people who have this problem using MDT to image the computers?

.... that worked! I don't know who to blame... Microsoft or Capita. However I did make my own application with VB and used the function FormatCurrency() which displays the locally set currency.... it was pounds sterling. SIMS is obviously getting its information from somewhere else. Or perhaps just making it up!

Has anyone come up with a solution to this? We have just noticed this on our new Windows 7 computers.... all settings are UK!

I refuse to give up on UAC now I spent so long getting SIMS to update cleanly!! lol Yeah I did a ProcMon capture of all the events and have given all users full rights to the HKLM\Software\Avid keys, hopefully will be successful soon!!

Yeah nice feature, interesting implementation though!! Documentation on it is sparse the say the least! From what I can see RegTool.exe which does the licencing requires 'elevation'. Prehaps they took their coding skills from those at SIMS.

Hellooo all! Anyone had a look at the new licence servers for Sibelius? They offer a check out service where a member of staff can effectively use the network licence at home for a predetermined period of time. Looks like a great feature, however when checking out a licence a UAC prompt appears which is writing some registry key in HKLM? Anyone come across this and found a workaround without an admin having to dismiss the prompt each time the teacher wants to take Sibelius home?

Not with AD I created RSLogonLimit which does exactly this though. Runs as a logon script and can be configured to deny logon or just inform a user that their user account is elsewhere. Also provides an admin GUI for monitoring the logons. RSLogonLimit | RS Applications PS... apologies for the site atm, my graphical skills aren't that good so the download button looks like something a child would have drawn!

Did anyone go through the VDI licencing scheme with you for ipads? The M$ licencing is still terrible for them as you cannot use any licences from your normal EES pool. They are VDA licences as you aren't 'upgrading' the OS on the iPAD. Totally bonkers! We had the idea of using VDI for BYOD but it works out that we would have to buy a VDA for every device which would be used, and they cannot be transferred between devices for 3 months!!

I had a similar thing with Intel graphics cards on our laptops. Basically turned out to be a glitch in the card itself and was to do with a very specific set of events. You may experience display corruption issues on certain Intel graphics processing unit (GPU) chipsets in Windows 7 The solution here was to disable Intel-VT on the laptops as its not used here anyway. We didn't fancy the downgrade of the RAM to 2GB lol v odd though!

Only 20 minutes? lol I went down the copying custom XML files to the users. Made the mistake of making the files read only though..... yeah don't do that..... causes some strange 'read only' documents folder, but the sub folders underneath are writable! Confused a few staff that did!

try xcopy or robocopy they both accept UNC.

The clients are the ones which have to trust the root certificate. You can publish it in AD, its in the Computer\Windows settings\Security settings, I believe. Once clients trust the root, anything signed with that certificate is trusted. What are you trying to do with the certs?

We use an application called xWiki. Similar to mediawiki but a proper GUI and you can build web apps of your own using the inbuilt languages. Tis rather good imho

The two profile types are quite different with xp and 7. When you say you want to 'roam' with a mandatory profile what do you mean? You will have to recreate a mandatory profile for the Windows 7 clients in a slightly different way, during sysprep is the preferred method now. I am looking at mandatory profiles to speed up the logon of clients with Windows 7 which I still find is too slow.
