I'm planning to go and see it in 2D with the gf, as she can struggle with 3D, but wouldn't mind seeing it in 3D. Is the film no good then?

Some times green is not always more cost effective, sometimes it's not about the money.

Are you thinking of adding a second or additional hard drive, make it dynamic then expand a volume onto it?
-
most of us on here would be drunk before 9 each morning. hehe.

I'm on a NC10 so i can see them also. Though my server has 4 HDD led's on the inside, could be useful there.

yeah man great game, tho it's a little adictive and not a long game really, not enough levels and a little easy. unless you have the full versions?

Indeed. I use it to my effect to increase security, but it can be used badly and leave an even bigger whole in your security. Another thing to watchout for is other admins trying to change/changing permisssions and doing it in the wrong place, communication is key as is a policy. To throw more into the mix for me i have individule accounts on each machine within a DFS that i also allow access to certain shares, at share and NTFS levels. And it becomes even more complex when your in a multidomain forest (i'm not), where things like domain users may not actually include users from other trusted domains unless explisitly added to that group, hense why if you have custom groups it can be alot easier to work with and understand. But thats beond my level of tinkering so far. good practice; make a security group, with users, for that access, create a folder and share it with the minimum possible permissions on the share, set the NTFS permissions using 'special' to the lowest possible to achieve the task, (you may need to set the folder to not inherit permissions), DO NOT REMOVE SYSTEM or ADMINISTRATORS users/groups, there is nothing worse than locking yourself out from making changes. You should not use administrator (domain or on the machine unless you really need to.) The last bit of good practice is to test for access AND to make sure unauthorised access cannot occur. Oh and make sure you document things down for others who work on the system, and for red bus scenarios. Dont think i've missed anything? This is the real world way i use, so probably not the MS way, but it should be close.

A standart analogue TV should do, the BNC carries a PAL or NTSC (???) signal like the yellow component on a projector, a convertor is all you should need. I've done this before without any issues.

You could make the shelf into a cabinet with a perspex front, or why not mount the screen to the wall using a vesa mount or to the shelf using an arm? Just 3 ideas i've thought about.

I'll be looking at this closely, we're looking at moving to thin clients on CC4. Anyone actually got any thin clients on CC4?

I do use share permissions to lock down shares before adding them to my DFS. It's good practice and is more secure. I also use NTFS to lock down folders, but i do not use modify very often, as i normally use the special permissions and go through them all specifying exactly what i do and dont want. I do not use the authenticated users for anything. It's much better practice to lock things down to actual users or groups you've created yourself, than to a generic object that could lead to a massive security hole, especially if you allow full control. In windows the share security comes first as it's the method of access, then NTFS permissions of the tree structure, then the file it'self. BUT not all folders are in the tree, and not all follow the hirache. A deny may not always deny everything within a folder structure. eg: students (group) have read access to a share. The share is mapped to H:/share1. students have NTFS read access to folder share1. This contains a hand-in folder called homework, where the students (group) have NTFS write and creator owner access allowed. The users with the students group will have read access to anything within the share1 folder, and any files they have created within the homework folder, unless denyed further up the tree or on the files. but they will not have write access or owners access to files withing homework as they only have read access to the share. If we now allow then full control over a new share to H;/share1/homework they will be able to read their files and wrote new ones and also modify exsting files they've made. But through this share only, not the first.

I have that in the config file, and the issue i get is that nothing comes through the proxy. I will reduce the config file down and add it to the forum tomorrow hopefully.

What about alienware? Dont they have powerhouses for laptops? Or has that changed since dell took them over? http://www1.euro.dell.com/uk/en/home/Laptops/alienware-m15x/pd.aspx?refid=alienware-m15x&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1 - i know it's a 15" but it's close to the asking spec.

When i made my machine i built it using vista as the Windows PE that CC4 uses is VISTA and uses vista drivers. Once it's finished and trys to reboot it'sself you need to shut it down and change that to xp. that should work. I also made a clean location called VM's within my main site and this is where i put all my VM's. My boss also had issues so i'll try building another VM next week and see if i have just fluked the correct settings first time.

Anyone know of a decent graphics card thats supports HD, (1366 x 768 specifically)? looking at building my next PC with a 32" LG TV for a monitor, will be running some high demanding virtual machines for testing server configs ect. I want to use the VGA input to the TV if possible?

Hi, i'm trying to setup squid on a ubuntu machine but whenever i add the cache peer lines with our info it doesn't work. We have to proxy to get to the outside world. Anyone else having/had simalar issues? Any ideas on how i should start to resolve this?

Jokes, would love to do that here.

Go for the socket close to the projector, it's just easier. No re termination cables, no worries about right or wrong connectors, easyier to pat test, safer, easier to troubleshoot, can also be used for WAP if you need to (we use them for this also).

yes you are allowed to make minor alterations, IF you are electrically compitent.
