PSU could still easily be faulty particularly if the PSU is as old as the rest of it - some will power on with the paperclip unless they have any load. Try it again with a full sized hard drive plugged in, then again with a laptop drive/SSD plugged in (this will test 12v and 5v rail with a tiny load) - not guaranteed to give away the fault but possible. Certainly best to try with another PSU regardless - an 8 year old one will have it's fair share of crud inside and some components or even solder joints aren't designed to last that long (lead-free solder is nasty for this reason and electrolytic caps can be a strong candidate for failure particularly if the PSU is an off-brand)

Got a batch of the Dynabooks through a different scheme. Glad we avoided them for the main lot because they're dire. Thankfully though after a quick check of one, box it straight back up and send out to the students - hands washed! Did rather annoy me to see the DFE documentation clearly stating they need to speak to the school if something's filtered that shouldn't be - we have no control over it! Interesting to note though the use of OpenDNS for filtering in these cases rather than Cisco Umbrella.

We use Ipevos and also have mandatory profiles which delete at logoff. Zero issues however - and the software (we use the standard MSI packaged software) installs in literally 30 seconds using PDQ/SCCM. Hardware is absolutely solid and great quality.

Doom eternal is well worth it. Like Doom 2016, somehow it runs as smooth as butter on pretty much anything and looks gorgeous! Might pick up the max Payne franchise. Red Dead 2 is certainly worth a buy - an absolutely awesome game from start to finish, and if rumours are correct tehy're working on Red Dead 1 being added to it!

Hi all, I can't find any release notes or similar for today's Sims Summer update - does anyone happen to know if it contains the absolute cacophony of patches they've put out since Spring? Or will I need to go through all of those first? Cheers

Concur with the Techsoft offerings. I have a soft spot for them anyway as their support is awesome and software just works - plus any company transparent enough to put prices like that in full public view deserves a listen. "Call for Prices!" aka "You can't afford it"

Certainly time to get a long term plan in place, particularly while the government are about to throw millions at schools to get them brought up to scratch buildings-wise - perhaps you can point out whilst they could effectively save money there you could earmark those savings for the AV equipment.

Unless you're doing it all yuourself the cost of getting cables re-run, re-routed and mounts redone you won't be far off the cost of replacing with led panels!

Never had issues with that - anyone pulling a chip up with the heatsink is using the wrong compound! Got quite a beefy heatsink on my Ryzen. Not sure why anyone would think they're a "tiny bit behind" Intel in gaming - my 3600 benchmarks about equal to a 10700 or whatever the model is at a 3rd of the price in all modern games, particularly RDR2 and Doom Eternal

Absolutely recommend the Ryzen series - particularly for gaming and paired with that GPU would be a best. Even the Ryzen 5 is quicker than that i7 so you won't be disappointed. Paired with a decent 570 motherboard it'll be an easy winner and will be more than capable of ram speeds of 3200 upwards.

Argh, no I read it right - it all requires higher paid for subscriptions like A3 or having the SKU otherwise added. Groan!

As above, unifi is almost a no-brainer solution for this purpose - depending entirely on budget though, a couple of grand on unifi points and setup would be nearer 30k on Ruckus.

Keeping an eye, mostly as "anything but Cunninghams" is an upgrade!
