Hi, Just looking at being a cheapskate. Has anyone used any random bluetooth mifare readers in conjunction with ipads for SignInApp? Something along the lines of https://www.amazon.co.uk/ACR1255U-J1-Secure-Bluetooth-Contactless-Reader/dp/B07BFTBBKV I know it's nitpicky, and SIA is far from expensive but £500 for a stand and the tappy reader thing compared to 30 for a stand 80 for a reader, it's worth checking. I just can't go spending 80 quid on something I'm not sure will work with SIA

It is, but it's also prone to some *interesting* adverts. I've advised our ICT curriculum leads to use it on the basis that it may sometimes get blocked because of the ads.

It's a pain but suggest doing in during the day, early on - at a time when the majority of workstations are on. That's the thing isn't it - BYOD is getting so difficult to manage effectively, it's either so awkward it's easier all round to not bother, or it just doesn't work because privacy requirements don't tally with safeguarding requirements. So if you remove one of the biggest factors of BYOD - the device, then it's a lot simpler all round

I'm interested in seeing how this pans out. Whilst I've seen mobile phones being put to good use in some lessons in the right context, with what we have available to students now I think it's a rare case now and would love to see a complete ban. It'll of course play nicely into the hands of the people making those pouches though. And for MFA - either don't do it (risk assessment is adequately low) or have a boundary set. Yeah that might require paying out for Azure P1 but it's still far less cost and resource than tokens or other methods.

Especially at a trust level, I would hope that alternatives are being looked at. Sticking with SIMS might paper over some cracks and help the "we don't like change" brigade, and all the people that make all the excuses under the sun "Oh, but it's better at X and Y". (Hint; it isn't.)

I can't recall the cost I got for Entrysign, but do remember we could have bought 3 SignInApp systems with all the hardware and gubbins and MIS integration subscription for the cost of either ES or Inventry (as of June this year).

Christ - I'd turn audio off. The DPIA would have to be watertight for that (ask to see it!) because the pro's are unlikely to balance out the cons. In education, I would expect the balance to be tipped in certain SEN or specialist establishments but otherwise, it really isn't worth it, even with correct and plentiful signage.

That would be more than enough to warrant taking any remaining stations out of service immediately. I would still contact Zioxi as that looks very bad on them, and you may be able to tug on their heart strings. Poor school, imagine the fire damage etc etc.

If you've paid for any ads or anything on Facebook then you're likely already using it. I'm not sure if it's still branded Meta Business, but Meta/Facebook has all the tools you need to manage all their platforms in one place including scheduled posts, audience management and advertising. X is an absolute cesspit with little to no moderation, ownership has entirely tanked and has no interest in overall safety and I highly suspect that the recent ban in Brazil might soon start to be echoed elsewhere.

It'd be difficult to see why you'd need it any more. No-one in their right mind is still using the artist formely known as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp are one and the same and easily manageable under Meta Business. Unless your school is being funky with Snapchat or TikTok (which ironically, I would suggest are both safer than X these days)
