It's now Google Workspace. G Suite was always an awful name. It said absolutely nothing. G Suite for Education will become Google Workspace for Education, but not yet. I worked in one LA where their answer to sending "secure" safeguarding documents to them was to save them in the pre 2007 Office format rather than the 2007-265 XML format, and password protect it - I kid you not - by using the school's LAESTAB number!. So, it was protected by a publicly available 7 digit number. Oh and you had to put the name of the school on the file too. Then you just emailed it over. Email! This was less than 8 years ago! Email! So not only did you have the same pattern across every school, but you already know the first 3 digits of said pattern, leaving just 4 to solve... and solving the password for one school would break it open for everyone instantly, as the password was publicly available information you can get from a Government website and the files had to be named with the name of the school. Then emailed so it sat on every server between yours and theres. Let alone a 7 digit number as a password is calculated to be secure for 0.0002 seconds by howsecureismypassword.net I was absolutely furious when I found out what they were doing, but the head was not happy that I was stomping down on it.

I don't know why you'd go through these hoops to deliver SIMS remotely when every single alternative to SIMS available is cloud based, cheaper, reduces overheads and is frankly a better product.

They probably are, but "I told you so" moments can often go hand-in-hand with "doesn't matter that we didn't fund it, we're going to put you through disciplinary" moments. No. Stick to the web app. Android stuff is a per profile thing at the moment. There was talk of them building on-device caches for apps, so profile information travelled in their accounts, but the apps were kept up to date in a central location on the device, but that hasn't surfaced as of yet. I'm sure its still in the roadmap though. Android apps are something we would only be looking at deeply with 1:1 right now. 1. Yes, user settings affect whatever Chrome OS device they would sign into. So if you use a cloud filtering solution, when logged into a school account they would be filtered as per the school's filtering, for example. We're currently investigating using Securly for 1:1 devices off-site (and our current on-site solution when they get on site) with a view to move to Securly wherever they are in the long term. That's how we'd do that. 2. If they sign-in on Windows/Mac/Linux devices, they should use the profiles feature of Chrome Browser. Assuming their home machine is signed in with a personal account already on Chrome, if they use the "Add Another Account" in the browser, it'll get all kinds of confused as to which account is signed in. Do not allow users in this organisation to enroll new or re-enroll existing devices. No one needs it except those you want to be able to enroll a device onto the Admin Console. I'd give that to maybe those 2 or 3 geeky kids who want to help IT wise as and when they'd need it and you have 300+ to enroll, but that's it.
