  1. Don't know loads about it, but if you are using SIMs, IEP Writer does, or can, get some data from there. How it works if your laptop is offline, I don't know. Not much help sorry. Andy
  2. Just wondering that myself Andy
  3. LOL! Just been doing the very same over the last hour!!! Did you find the PLASC Utility did absolutely nothing at all? And of course, then you have to go through them all again setting their ILA. Anyway, back on topic...
  4. Hmmm.... I installed (or rather upgraded) FMS the last time. I had a CD (and instructions!) from our local friendly SIMS support guys Andy
  5. I've asked similar before - I believe that if you just assign full control to the SIMS and PARS folders in Program Files, they will be able to perform the upgrades. This definitley works for PARS.net - still need to check for SIMS. Andy
  6. Probably Shouldn't Be Caps Either. Andy
  7. Thanks Beeswax
  8. Could someone PM me that Nick (from Microsoft) guy's email address. Cheers, Andy
  9. Just a quick note to say thanks to those involved in the conference. Very entertaining and informative. Would have liked to have joined you afterwards but am flying down to London tonight. Cheers again. Andy
  10. Just a quick one preceding tomorrow (tho it's probably a bit late now!) Is it going to be a shirt and tie affair tomorrow? That's the impression I get from the pix of Edugeek South. I would hate to arrive overdressed (though probably rather that than underdressed) Andy
  11. The poll's a bit random, isn't it? Andy
  12. I did this yesterday - it does say in the docs attached to the email I got. Just make sure you pick "Immediately uninstall software" after you've clicked to delete the original package It worked fine for us - the only trouble we had was when the Head of ICT and me had a go at one of the practice tests for the first time... and struggled!! 8O Andy
  13. Looks like you'll be busy for EduGeek South Andy
  14. Just looking over my old help tickets, it was version 1.88 that sorted it out for us. Anyway, their support is very good IMHO. Andy
  15. I had a similar problem when I tried - can't quite remember if it is quite the same or not. Firstly, presumably you are talking about PARS.net not SQL? There's updates every few days from TASC, make sure you have downloaded and applied the current update and use the PocketPARS.CAB from the directory on the server. This is what I did and it worked fine. Don't forget to install the TCPServer somewhere also. Andy
  16. LOL - we'll probably get to that stage, just as they start to consider the possibilty of us being allowed air con! On second thoughts... probably not. Andy
  17. Interesting... RM Tutor, before version 3, used to be powered by NetOP (as we have here - NetOP, not RM Tutor that is). Wonder why they jumped ship - beginning to think maybe we should too Andy.
  18. Always best to start early! Andy Putting 4 or 5 guys and gals up in London for a week, plus paying for stand expenses (electricity etc) is very, very costly, so we do need to start fundraising now. Surely it won't take us generous souls two hundred years to raise 2 grand though Andy
  19. Always best to start early! Andy
  20. Must be the season for it! I'm just starting to renew our website with Joomla Playing with some template ideas locally at the moment, not put it online yet. Andy
  21. Well.... I had already installed IIS on my machine for another job. Andy
  22. I've already made an XP VM using VMWare Server on my XP machine Andy
  23. So a question for all the VMWare-ers here... why would I pay for Workstation (something I was looking at) when I can have Server for free? Cheers, Andy
  24. Well I've got a welding mask all lined up - but it is very cloudy round these parts Andy
  25. This thread seems to have gone very anti-Promethean! In the interest of the thread title - we have exclusively Promethean boards (apart from one Clevertouch - but we won't go into that here) - we have 22 of them, which in our small school equates to almost every classroom having one. Not really had any problems with them. Staff are well into the software - some more than others obviously. We started with them around 4 years ago. We just wish they'd bring back the black pens Andy
