We also have a projector and screen in the gym which has been there 18 months and not used much. To be fair it would if it weren't for the giant windows either side of the Gym! We can sometimes use it on Open Evening when its dark out! Andy.

tosca925: did those machines come with an OS already installed? I suspect your £32 XP pro may have been an upgrade license - MS don;t supply volume licenses for new desktop machines. Just to warn - been there! Andy.

I've seen it (or one very similar at Misco for about 650 - nothing much short of a grand at Insight Just got the same KVM as you've got there (although only 1 of them) nice to not have to pull cables out of the back of my running servers every 5 minutes Andy.

Our ICT Coord is deputy head - he also teaches ICT (although by trade he is a music teacher). It appears to me he is happy to take orders (so to speak) on teaching ICT from the HoD. The ICT Cord however takes charge of strategizing(?) for the whole school - deciding where resources should go, etc.. All technical details are left to me It goes very much like this, for example: Deputy Head: We are going to put a cluster of ICT in History, here's how much money we've got, how many machines can we have? Me: about 7 with a bit of change, couple of hundred more for another (I say a bit sheepishly because I know he expected more, but didn't account for the networking, servers, etc. also involvedin the project) Deputy Head: Let's have 8 then, here's the money (he doesn't actually hand me any money) HoD: My Whiteboard's not working - is something wrong with the server? It works (IMHO) very well, and we all get on! (I should have been a script writer) Andy.

Good idea! I suspect he is using some form of classroom control software to block IE - then found that the kids can simply type in a web address into My Computer and get to the t'Internet anyway!! That is the trouble I am having anyway!!! Andy.

Just had a flyer from Heinemann - a little quote to make you laugh. I see what they were thinking, but even so... 8O hmmm.... Fair play to them for releasing their titles as 'intranet-based applications'. Makes deploying them a cinch, but the ones I've had so far are coded in asp, so even if you wanted to 'license' an Apache server to run them: tough! Unless someone has developed an open-source compatible? Geoff? Andy.
