  1. All of which are now on either FTN or Challenge. I hate Gladiators, the Mrs loves it! Although even she is getting an bit bored of it - has anyone else noticed they seem to keep showing the same episodes over and over with Phil the martial arts guy! Andy
  2. Then use the method as mentioned by Marco to track down and solve the problem, then switch on STP when it's all better Probably a kid playing silly beggars plugging one cable into two ports! We've had it here, as probably most others have. Most of the points aren't patched into the switch now if they're not being used. Andy
  3. Do you actually put both on Quackers? PARSql and PARS.net. We started with .net so there would be no point putting both on, just wondered if you could and if there was a purpose. Andy
  4. Not yet, but it is my brother-in-law's birthday , and he's a big Star Wars fan, so it's kind of an ongoing joke with him! Andy
  5. I wonder if that is an old code that could cause ebuyer some trouble if someone picks up on it! HP always seem to be doing some cashback offer on some product or another. That printer was featured with the £200 cashback in an offer I participated in a while back (I didn't buy that printer, but it was on the claim form) but it expired July last year! If it is in a current promotion, Insight have it listed at over £100 cheaper Andy
  6. Is that spec for one||zero, or Nagios also Ric? Cheers, Andy
  7. Not too much help from me I'm afraid, but Lenovo do have something to do with IBM you know. Not sure if it is a company belonging to to them or not, but I would be comfortable dealing with them We have some of their (IBM) servers, though we haven't had need to test their support (surely a good thing!) Andy
  8. Wow! Already seen that video a little while back, never imagined it was a fellow Edugeeker! Have you seen the guy playing Stars and Stripes Forever? I play a little bit of Piano/Keybaord/Organ (not at the same time!). Never did the grades, but I like to guesstimate myself around 3-4 I also dabble a little in the Magical Arts Kwyjibo, though maybe not as much as I used to. Great coming from Blackpool as we have some of the greatest Magic shops (IMHO). We also have one of the largest conventions in Europe which I still haven't yet managed to get to
  9. Have any Ghost users come across this? Apparently there is a fix for this, so I have dutifully emailed the appropriate person. Just wondering if anyone has already been there, and may be able to send me the fix in a more "timely" manner. Andy
  10. Our local County guys took 2-3 days to put our new admin server in. They charged approx. £900! No project management charge, or product fee, or handling fee, or training fee that I hadn't asked for (maybe you did ask for training). I am also presuming you will need Server 2003 CALs for your PCs & Laptops. If you can get MS licenses on Select, I think these are around a fiver each machine. If you're confident enough, I would seriously consider sourcing and commisioning the server yourself, although this may depend on politics also! For example where I have added numerous servers to our curriculum network, it wasn't my place at the time to replace the one on the admin network. Regarding Office, again if you can use Select, these are IIRC around 30-35 quid each. Andy
  11. I have keys here, though they have just fitted the front door with some new fangled thing which means I can let myself in, I just can't get out again! Just me and the caretaker here full time - a couple of teachers were in the first couple of days, and the bursar is in today. Not sure I would come in if I wasn't getting paid tho - maybe I'm not dedicated enough! Andy
  12. I think he meant Tony Blair? Andy
  13. Sorted! Many thanks, steve Andy PS What a great community.
  14. I too have this very same issue! We were thinking about printing a sheet off with instructions (I had already produced a sheet for the staff) with a box for a temp password for a user such as "supply1". Giving them this in the morning when they arrive and changing the password every couple of days or so, or when they finish, we tend to use a lot of supply and have the same people in for a few days or more at a time. Obviously a pretty rubbish solution, writing passwords down, bits of paper for the kids to pick up - but the only one we've come up with so far I will be watching this thread with interest Andy
  15. I remember watching a Dr Who episode a loooong time ago, which featured a TimeLord reading from a sheet of paper... which was round. I had to laugh - they've mastered time travel, but don't realise square things are easier to pack, file, etc.. Andy
  16. PM dropped Andy
  17. We had one stolen once, and I can only imagine they did just that. They took the pole and everything with them!! Andy
  18. I'd be a bit more bothered about the ceiling mounted projector! Those poles weigh a ton. I'm seem to recall a case somewhere where one fell off. Don't think anyone was hurt, but I'm pretty sure they'd kill someone if it landed on them. Andy
  19. Pity it doesn't need a bulb, but I get the sentiment - it will need a new bulb at some point I'm sure. Didn't realise that about the filters though. Is that just NEC? I've had replacement Sanyo bulbs before now, but they didn't have filters with them. Funnily enough, it was listening to you talking about your stockpile at the meeting last week that prompted me to post this! Andy
  20. Bit of a long shot this, but no harm in asking eh? I wonder if anyone has an NEC VT45 projector that they are about to scrap. The reason I ask is some kindly person has removed the filter from the side, and I am guessing they are not about to bring it back I am waiting for an email from NEC regards pricing for the part, but they are taking that long to respond, I dread to think what kind of news they are psyching me up for! But in the meatime, if anyone can help, I would love to hear from you. Cheers, Andy
  21. Not wanting to be a pedant (or a pendant as GD would say). I gather that is a typo and that you do indeed mean can't filter on content? Cheers, Andy
  22. lol - frappr denied by SmartFilter! Think I'm already on. Andy
  23. Welcome Halfmad. Today could be your lucky day. NetSupport Ltd may just be offering EduGeek members a discount in the very near future !"£$%^ Just ordered a bunch of licenses! Oh well, maybe next time andy
  24. We had a Modern Apprentice last year, in association with the local college not sure if that's related - this looks like it's worth a closer look though. Andy
