I can do 45kg, but in competition you have a slight pause at the bottom... something I didn't train for. So now all I'm doing is paused benching along with shoulder press, rows, pull ups and some other supporting stuffs.

I can get really low with my squat. I've got a couple of stretches that can really help... I'll see if I can get some pictures of them tonight... one is hard to explain! The other is like a glute stretch, but on a box, raised up.

Well after gaining about 1.5 stone after the twins were born and convenience was key I am now as of today back down to 10st 13lbs from 12st 7lbs.

I did it all through diet this time as I just don't have the time/energy to run or go the gym anymore.

Just cut excess sugar from my diet and cut out processed food. Missus is doing slimming world and I just adapted it to suit me.

@bossman - your pasta dishes, do you use jars of sauce?

I make my own now with pasata as the jars contain stupid amounts of sugar.

@Iain.Faulkner - I have been monitoring my weight over the period of several weeks at regular intervals during the day. You would be amazed at how much my weight fluctuated. Sometimes I saw swings of 7lbs over the course of a day.

We do the same with pasta sauce now, either tins of chopped tomatoes, or jars of passata as the base and then add chilli, garlic, herbs, veg etc to make the sauce how we fancy it (sometimes even a splash of red wine!).

@CHR1S it really is amazing isn't it how much weight can fluctuate over a week and even over the course of a day. I know that my lightest point in the week is first thing on a Friday morning (I weigh myself then to give myself a little boost) and my heaviest is last thing on a Sunday night. Between those two times I've seen an 8lb difference in the weights.

I think I'm back on track now :-) I've had two weeks of working hard at WeightWatchers and had 2 good losses......2.5lb's the first week and 2lb's the second. So I'm now back under 15 stone (so about what I was before Christmas), my weight loss is back over 5 stone again and the amount of weight I need to lose for a "healthy" BMI is down to 15 lb's again :-) Really pleased and am looking to keep it going over this next week as well and hopefully get down to the lightest I have ever been as an adult (only needs another 2lb loss).

Weight fluctuation is commonly documented which is why they recommend that you weigh yourself at roughly the same time of day no more than once a week. You are looking for trends, not pinpoint accuracy. I weigh myself as soon as I get up on a Friday morning... and am pleased to report that I have shifted 12 lb since Christmas and am only 2lb off my target weight.

For food: Portion control, rigidly sticking to no snacking and taking care about what I eat and drink Monday - Friday (I am more relaxed at weekends). I have always cooked from scratch. My son leaving for university didn't help my waistline as surplus was always fed to him... it goes in the freezer now!

My knee is recovering well and I am able to exercise more now. I am still not back to a full workout, but short running spells on the treadmill at the gym are now possible. :)

There is definitely a lot to be said for freezing portions of food rather than eating them straight away, I think this has been key to my weight loss this time.....as not only does it stop me eating portions that are too big, but also on nights when I'm tired and don't want to cook from scratch I know I've got something ready that will take 10 minutes in the microwave that is healthy.

One extra thing we've found useful, is a magnetic whiteboard on the freezer door with a list of what's inside. Makes life a whole lot easier :-)

I'm down to 14 stone 2 1/2lbs now, from 16 stone at my peak 2 months ago. Give it a couple of weeks and I'll be below 14 stone again, hopefully.

Main problem is none of my trousers fit any more!!

The thing is - losing weight is all very well - but it seems to me that quite a lot of people are gaining and losing the same couple of stone over and over. I was talking to a friend who admitted that when she worked it out she had lost 14 stone over the past 10 years - but that was the same 14 stone. She is stable now and has been for the past year but she does it by NOT thinking about dieting but just being careful.

It is soul destroying to never have a snack and I think that watching what you eat every minute of the day focuses your attention on food which makes it harder to limit your intake.

If your mindset is correct, and your underlying modus operandi is low fat low sugar low salt etc then you will start to make good choices and hopefully reach a stable weight.

Says the woman who ate THREE hot cross buns yesterday :)

I had 4 last friday!!! Ooops.

Also, new PB on my deadlift yesterday... 120kg. Only 6kg off double my bodyweight! YAY!

That's really good, that's what I do for 5 reps, i'm probably a fair bit taller than you at 6 foot odd but that's really impressive.

Nice. You gonna start to cut though soon? I'm thinking about it, not reached my bulk goal yet but getting a bit tired of having a flabby gut.

What's cutting through? I have a bit of wobble in my belly, but I'm not disciplined enough to stick to a low carb and sugar diet!

I assumed that for your competition you were on a calorie surplus and bulking for dem der strength gainz. But your trainer might have had you on a clean bulk, I dunno. You can get a little extra weight doing this so people go and cut with is a calorie deficit with a clean diet and drop some fat for that lean look. I'm no expert on this though.
