Sam_Brown Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Might be in risk of your body going into starvation mode if you're going straight into eating so little so suddenly. Also while some food doesn't have many calories it still has actual weight... pint of water is about half a kg. At one point during my weight loss I was drinking 4 or 5 pints of water a day which would be over 2kg in just water weight alone!
crispybits Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Been doing the 5-2 diet since New Year and have lost around a stone and a half but have hit a big plateau between 18 and 18.5 stones - just can't seem to make the push onto a weight starting with "17 stone..." - hopefully this week I finally make it (it's 50/50 and depends on how well behaved I am in the next 3 days food-wise) (PS I'm 6'6" so 17/18/19 stones is unhealthy but maybe not quite as bad as it sounds...)
Driftingashore Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Good luck with the 17 milestone. Honestly, I think losing a stone and a half since the start of the year is pretty good going considering I haven't yet managed to motivate myself to begin training again properly after Christmas. I've probably got about 15/20lbs to lose until I'll be happy, which doesn't sound like much, but I'm still hopelessly unfit. I've become a bit of a master of the first three weeks of C25K, but then something always manages to break my routine. I think I'll start again tonight.. if the weather stays nice
witch Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Being inert due to a foot op for 6 weeks - I have trying to be careful re food as I put on weight very easily. I think I am doing OK - I've been doing half an hour of exercise three times a week as well - mostly arm stuff along with situps, leg lifts etc. I feel a bit fat though. The most difficult bit is going to be when I am back at work but still can't do classes or go the the gym for another couple of months. The motivation to do exercise after a days work is not going to be easy

If anyone else is still following their new years resolution to shift the flab then keep it up! 1
Iain.Faulkner Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Never came back to this - I'm now just under 16.5 stone and still going strong - hoping to go under 16 stone by mid-June. If anyone else is still following their new years resolution to shift the flab then keep it up! Great work! Well done!! I'm really struggling with my weight loss, my weight is back up to 16 stone 4lb's (having got as light as 14 stone 10lb's) and I'm just really finding it hard to get myself back on track with it all. Daft thing is that I'm the fittest I've ever been (having trained and completed a half marathon 7 weeks ago), I just can't get my head around my food intake :-(
Arreks Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Completely opposite, I've put on weight since New Years - but it's mainly because I fell back into the routine of high carbs! looked at the scales and now it's time to switch back to that low carb diet.
neilmc Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Since New Years I have put on 2.5 stone. Before Christmas I was following the Body Coach 90daySSS plan, then over christmas both the wife and me were ill, usual colds and feeling generally rubbish always happens when I'm off work. So didn't stick to it, but the weight that I lost was amazing, dropped from 107.5kg to 103.5kg, 2 inches on my chest, 5 inches on my waist, all in 4 weeks. Then the new year set in, all that hard work had gone, so I tried to continue with the next cycle of it and introduced weights, but I had a long standing back problem with flared up with the intro of weights. Now I'm 2.5 stone heavier than I was in December last year, and trying to fix it. Bought a bike to cycle to work, and trying to go swimming on a morning. Following the 90DaySSSplan as much as I can to lose the pounds. Heres to looking good for winter.
Simcfc73 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I've found if I move the scales in the bathroom to a particular spot I can lose half a stone. I don't think its cheating at all. 2
Iain.Faulkner Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Braved it back at WeightWatchers last night....3lb's on since I last went a few weeks ago. Official weight set at 16 Stone 3.5lb's which is 21.5lbs heavier than I got to at my lightest. Need to sort this out!
clareq Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 One of my techies has lost 14 stone on Slimming World over the last year. I signed up with them this week. I just hope for some of his success!
alameals Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Back running the last few weeks after breaking my ankle, dropped 9lb which I put on since sitting on my backside for 4 months. So I'm back to my pre ankle break weight and now ready to kick on and hit my goal weight. Don't think I've posted here before but I started 2 years ago as 16 stone, I'm now 12 stone and half a pound, goal weight is to float just over 11 stone, I feel I'll be comfortable round that. Ran 8K on Monday, rest yesterday and ready to get out again tonight for another run. Keep up the good fight everyone 1
Joanne Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 I think I've come to the realisation that I need to do something now. 8 months of not going to the gym has taken its toll. Step 1 - sort out eating habits (very hard) Step 2 - exercise (must get motivation!) I should have been referred to a dietitian by now about my food intolerances, but nothing 4 weeks later. Hmmm. 1
Arreks Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 My main issue is exercise, my eating habits are lot better now and I barely ever snack on stuff or keep bad foods.. usually always high protein low carb stuffs for lunch/dinner. I'm just too lazy to get into the habit of regular exercise and I don't want to sign up to the gym again!
kearton Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 One of my techies has lost 14 stone on Slimming World over the last year. I signed up with them this week. I just hope for some of his success! Wow that's awesome. I've managed 3st on SW so far... 7st to go... [emoji26]
alameals Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Wow that's awesome. I've managed 3st on SW so far... 7st to go... [emoji26] Better than still having 10 stone to go, 3 stone is a lot, keep up the good work
2ilent8cho Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I did thinks like Slimming World, Weight Watchers and all that stuff most of last decade and was forever over weight, going from 18 stone, down to 15/16 stone, then back up again. Best thing i ever did was stop going those awful things , did something that flys in their face and got down to 12 stone back in 2012, and now 4 years on i am still in the 12st's so the best part is the weight has not come back on!!
north-ict Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I've pretty much fallen off the keep fit wagon just lost my motivation and its hard to spark it to start up again. Gained like a stone.
witch Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Just eaten egg and chips and then choc toffees. Bad but on the plus side I have cycled to work twice a week for the past three weeks, and done my weights and floor exercises regularly - so maybe it isn't all negative

2ilent8cho Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 If you want to stop with these stupid diets and actually get your weight off long term and keep it off get this and follow it to the letter. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0593064437/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=569136327&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=059306092X&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=WHB4NRPXA37FEVEG7NRE Worked for me after years of stupid Slimming World and other diet clubs. I eat all the foods diet clubs say are forbidden (just not to excess) without being made to feel bad and my weight just fell off and stayed off. I'm 6 stone lighter and 8" loss round the waist.

Awesome that you managed to strip the weight and keep it off! What worked for you though, might not work for others. It's really not fair to label it 'stupid' etc. Slimming World/Weight Watchers etc works for a lot of people, i have several friends that have lost weight (and kept it off) using the 'Syns' system. I don't necessarily agree with it entirely (that's a different conversation) but it works for a lot of people as it forces people to think about what they're eating and portion sizes etc. Plus there is the Social aspect etc. Anyway my point being, labelling the dieting system alot of people on here are using as 'Stupid' and implying that it simply won't work, isn't really helping anyone. Just wanted to add my "weight" to this, different things work for different people, I've done slimming world/weight watchers/atkins and even the Paul McKenna approach multiple times and failed at them all. I'm currently doing WeightWatchers again, and been doing it for 3 years now and lost about 7 stone and around 10 inches from my waist, but what is different is the mindset (and although WW has worked for me this time, I have no doubt that others probably would have worked). I now have more reason to lose the weight than I ever had before in the form of a nearly 3 year old little boy who I want to see grow up. To label them silly really isn't helpful. Still exercising around 4 times a week between running and playing football now my ankle is stronger. Hope everyone is doing well and staying strong! 2
