MrMat Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Anybody want my spreadsheet for proteins and best value for purchasing them? (not protein powder, but actual food) I'd be interested in having a butchers I hit back this morning. I love back day, probably my favourite! Did some deadlifts for the first time in a while too so was good fun.
featured_spectre Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I am going to add Carbs and Fats on the spreadsheet as well (tabs made for it) but not started yet, here is the proteins though. proteins.xlsx

Tesla Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 need to lose weight badly, put on about a stone over the summer (planned to do a lot of cycle trips etc, but a car accident/bodged knee put an end to that), any tips for weight loss/building up exercise gradually? my knee is almost back to normal but still has some internal bruising.

To lose weight all you need to do it burn more calories than you consume. It's actually quite simple. Just start off adding some simple exercises to your daily routine and cut a few things out of your diet and work from there. If you've got a poor knee then I would certainly stay away from running for the time being. Stick to low impact exercises like swimming, cycling, cross-trainer etc. Start off slow and just build up. Anything from 30 - 60 minutes 3-5 times per week should be plenty to help burn some decent calories. Also make little bits of effort throughout the day that you would usually avoid i.e. stairs instead of lift, go for a random walk etc. It will all add up Diet wise just be sensible. Don't stick to some crazy low calorie 6 week diet because you will be miserable during and probably just gain the weight again afterwards. Eat little and often, plenty of veg and fruit, high protein foods etc. If you want to keep track of all your macros (macro nutrients i.,e. fats, protein, carbs) then download one of the apps and get logging.

I'm doing You Are Your Own Gym app/book atm along with low cal diet. You might be able to adjust some of the Leg Day Exerscises to acommodate your knee depending on how immobile it is.
Tesla Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 My knee is getting a lot better, i had physio this morning and i was able to squat down on my one bad leg without any pain, but agian becuase the bruising hasnt gone down, it still hurts when it has pressure (it was a bad idea to get deep into a desk to reach the back of a pc on my knees the other day), but the ligament itself is a lot better, so i should be able to start within the next week or so.
MrMat Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Mid-week update, how y'all folks getting on?
featured_spectre Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 tired from workout that work gave me (shifting 50 PCs down 2 flights of stairs was not fun) then shifting it from the ground floor to the van for collection. Add in that last night I did some swimming and weights, and this morning I did an hour in the gym doing cardio...I am bushwacked!
north-ict Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Well poopy, haven't been in about a week and a half need to get back into it hopefully will go tonight to the gym.
Joanne Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 OMG hope I get to hit the weights today in my PT session. Not done any real exercise since Tough Mudder!! #BOSH
hardtailstar Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 this time round I am having much more success and fun. This didnt happen!
neilmc Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Just started weight watchers becuase we had tried soooo much other stuff that didn't work, so thought it was time to invest money into our health. Lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks (the first 2 weeks) just by eating what they said, but now not lost anything this week, so its time to pickup the pace and do some exercise, something which I really struggle to motivate myself to do, any useful tips for motivation? except the obivous - you'll lose weight. Thanks
Joanne Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Find a hot personal trainer... motivates me 1

Thanks The best motivation for me is decent music to push you through when you dont quite have the oomph! As soon as you start seeing results and people begin to notice it on you aswell then you will soon have the bug! Just getting back into a weights and cardio routine again as had a shoulder for a number of months. I forgot how much the weights make you ache when you haven't been training. - - - Updated - - - Just started weight watchers becuase we had tried soooo much other stuff that didn't work, so thought it was time to invest money into our health. witch Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Definitely music But if you can find someone to gym/run/exercise class with - that helps too. I do exercise classes that require quite a lot of brain power to remember the routines which makes me shy away from missing a week
tommej Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) I highly recommend finding something as heavy as the weight you have lost - even if it's just bags of sugar. I bought a 16kg kettlebell (I've lost about 18kg now)and I cannot believe that I was carrying all that weight around with me for so long! Before pics are also really good for motivation, and don't obsess over the scale, take measurements as well. The scale might not move but you'll be losing inches all over! Tesla Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Testing my knee tonight by playing football for first time since my car accident back in July, hopefully will have no ill effects and will be able to start stepping everything up
Joanne Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Before pics are also really good for motivation, and don't obsess over the scale, take measurements as well. The scale might not move but you'll be losing inches all over! I took measures around my waist, hips, chest and thigh. I'm at my target of a 30" waist now, but want abs so might get a bit lower. Before and after pictures really do make you realise how far you have come.

Joanne Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 omg.... that after picture was on a photoshoot so is a really, really good picture. I don't look like that all the time!!!
Popular Post Iain.Faulkner Posted October 16, 2014 Popular Post Posted October 16, 2014 Well, after just under a year of working at WeightWatchers I hit my own personal goal (not the WW one) of losing 5 stone! 70 pounds gone in this instance of being a WeightWatchers member. However, from my heaviest weight ever (back at the end of 2008) I am now 7 stone down! The before and after shots (as @Joanne said) really make you realise just how far you've come. 5
DavidIrwin Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Amazing effort mate. Your "Then" and "Now" pictures should be an inspiration to us all. I am still struggling to get past the 90Kg mark. Feeling good with amazing fitness (regular 100mile bike rides) and much more muscle than I had but some work still to go Well Done. 1

Holy Crap! I lost a stone last summer and put it all back on before Christmas. So the idea of losing 7 stone and keeping it off... amazing. 1
