Garacesh Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Shows what you all know! I woke up this morning and what do you know? Dead.
tmcd35 Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 This end of the world thing is shit. Nothing is happening and I've been up since midnight hoping to catch it. Relax. According to Aunty Beeb this morning, it's not till 11:11, we still have just under 3 hours! If you know you only had 3hrs left to leave what would you do? Ans. Spend the time interviewing a candidate for a job neither us will be around for in January!
Gatt Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 3 hours - might just get SCCM 2012 upgraded to SP1 before then!
localzuk Posted December 21, 2012 Author Posted December 21, 2012 3 hours - might just get SCCM 2012 upgraded to SP1 before then! Or, if history teaches us anything, it will break everything and you'll have to do a complete re-install...
Gatt Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Or, if history teaches us anything, it will break everything and you'll have to do a complete re-install... Not this time - snapshots taken, DB Backup and Site backup taken At most it'll be a roll back to last night
tech_guy Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Here's some cheer from all the doom and gloom - if the world does end today then you can take some comfort from the fact knowing everyone you've ever hated will be dead as well 2
Earthling Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 What I don't get is........ .....if the World's gonna end on 21/12/2012......... ......why is it going to end at ........ 11.11? Edit: I really DON'T want anyone explaining the Mayan calendar to me in great detail, thus explaining why. Thanks all the same.

Robz Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 (edited) Surely it should be ending at midnight today? or at 21:12? Edited December 21, 2012 by Robz
sonofsanta Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Anyone else read up on the supposed theories of how it's all going to end? I was looking it up yesterday as my wife had asked and as far as I could tell, the candidates were 1) Rogue planet returns to the solar system as it does every few hundred years and collides with the Earth. Problem: we'd probably have seen said planet in the sky for the best part of a decade. 2) Earth and Sun line up with the black hole and the centre of the milky way (or some other nebulous alignment of celestial bodies) and tear the world apart. Problem: the black hole thing happens once a year anyway, the planet alignments are regular and do diddly-squat, and there ain't any scheduled for today anyway. 3) The magnetic poles flip and somehow that makes it all go wrong. Problem: that happens all the bloody time anyway, and takes thousands of years to complete, and likely only affects compasses. Maybe it's some kind of renaissance-style millenium bug, where all the transatlantic wooden ships crash into harbours as their compasses spin wildly? I don't know, I think this one is mostly based on people being thick and interpreting it as the entire world will spin upside down or the crust itself moves or something equally daft. Are there any others that aren't just the plots of bad Roland Emmerich CGI-fests I've not heard?

jinnantonnixx Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 It's started! Hey, that's a fake! If you look carefully at the boat in the foreground, you'll see that the shadow of the mast falls on the water at the wrong angle. 2
Gatt Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Hey, that's a fake! No no no you don't say it like that! This is how you say it..
stevenlong1985 Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Whats really cool, if you use google skymaps all the planets are in a line ,
HaleStorm Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Heard the funniest thing in one of our Breakout Areas earlier, group of Kids sat round and one lass says "so why didn't the world end then" to which a lad stands up and shouts "SCIENCE B***H" and walks off....I had to call him back to tell him off for swearing but I was struggling to suppress my laughter really badly
sted Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 surely the time be it 11:11 will ve that time in the mayans timezone anyway so probably early evening here
JJonas Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 and at 11.11 in the Mayans timezone when nothing happens they will be saying oh its going to be midnight in the Mayans timezone Tomorrow morning the failure of the apocalypse will be down to some obvious misreading of the Mayan calendar that nobody noticed before.
Earthling Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 I always thought that Central American civilisation ended, effectively, in 1492, anyway.
