Which Phone

My iPhone 4 is failing me, its getting slow clunky and unreliable.

 

I don't want another iPhone of any number either.

 

What's hot at the moment and what would you guys recommend?

 

It has to be unlockable to 02/Giffgaff, maybe have a memory card slot and do nice things

 

Cost isnt really a problem, but I don't want to spend where I don't need to! Oh and no HUGE phones please!

Nokia Lumia 820 if you don't want a huge phone. I got the 920 three weeks ago and I love it to pieces. Live tiles are good the lock screen is awesome and I don't miss a single feature of the iPhone and I now have something completely new to play with. Not so good on the 820 but the pureview camera is amazing and takes brilliant photos for a camera, much better than the S3 or iPhone 5.

 

The Nexus 4 is also a cheap android one but that's on a very long backorder now.

I have just got hold of the Smasung Galaxy s3 mini for my mother, seems to be a very nice phone, its a little bigger than my iPhone 4s. Screen is very nice and runs very well from what i have played with it. Have seen the normal s3 being used by others and they always seem very good.

That's a shame. The size of the handset/screen slightly too large IMO but for the money it's an awesome phone. I can see why so many people would want to get their hands on one. If my iPhone needed replacing it would be top of my list.

By all accounts the Galaxy III appears to be the closest all round competitor the the fruit phone. Latest versions of Android (4.x) seem quite nice to use.

There is an S3 mini now and I would get the Nexus 4 before selling my S3 (as its got a broken screen).

depending how long till we get 4G these would be the best about IMO, when my contract runs out ill be getting the Nexus 4

the nexus doesn't support external memory cards (I know, it's crap!)

 

I'm awaiting the Motorola Razr/droid HD for its immense battery life and lack of bloatware.

I got my Nexus 4 last week. And having small hands I was very worried about the size as I found my S2 to be rather big. In reality though the Nexus 4 is not much bigger than the S2, but because of its shape and materials, its much nicer and feels more secure to hold. I have dropped it once during the week. I use to drop my S2 3 or 4 times a day!

 

Its a stunning phone, and I am really enjoying it. I am experiencing some poor battery life however, but I suspect its more to do with my awful signal (and lack of wifi) at work :-/

It's not just that.

 

It's about £100 less than the S3, but phones with similar spec are cheaper.

 

You're better off either paying the extra cost for the awesome one, or getting something similarly specced which is cheaper.

oh please dont say that! i get poor battery life on my Nexus S and was going for the Nexus 4 as its supposed to be much better battery life.

The battery life is fine if you get a decent signal. If you are on wifi most of the time you get great battery life. Good thing is it dosn't seem to take long to charge. I tend to charge it on my drive home from work, its usually around the 20-30% mark, after a 45min drive its fully charged.

 

Edit: Its also playing music while charging in the car.
