Works fine for me to be honest; it's pretty slick.

 

It's not as smooth as on a pc or xbox etc but it does the job and has saved me running copper further throughout my house to the kitchen for a tv there

I even managed to get it out of the box but RL has intervened. I hope to take it into work next week to try out. Failing that it will be loaned to the local CAS hub so someone gets some use.

Have had a break from mine as getting a new puppy intervened and have been so busy at work with some difficult stuff that it really has been the last thing I've wanted to do in my spare time.

Just started having a quick nosey again this evening and have just downloaded Raspian as I was still on the old Debian.

Also, have back ordered the new Gertboard as that looks really good, although it'll be a real test of my long lost soldering skills as it comes in kit form and has some surface mount components.

I think I might have treated mine a little too enthusastically as it no longer seems to want to boot. The problem seems to be a faulty on-board USB controller - either it was faulty to begin with (there does seem to have been an early batch with issues) or I've fried it by trying to plug in too many interesting devices (mouse, keyboard, MiFare reader, temperature sensor, PiFace board, WiFi, SD card reader...). I'm ordering another three for when I get back from holiday, along with some pre-imaged SD cards and recommended power supplies (although I have tried half-a-dozen different SD cards of assorted speeds/classes and probabaly about the same number of power supplies already).

Almost forgot I had ordered one! Just for interest I went through the process of trying to order one again from RS and they say the lead time is 13 weeks now!!!

If you flush with money - order one from CPC and get it tomorrow and when your other one turns up just flog it as new unused

I've managed to get mine up and running with sabnzbd (for newsgroup downloads) under Raspbian. It sits next to my HomeHub, powered from the USB port. I've got two folders mounted on my home NAS, so I can dump NZB files in one folder, then the Pi does it's stuff and puts the downloads in another folder. Magic! I think it's amazing that something so small as the Pi can handle something like that, especially with the web interface too!

 

Only snag is unrar doesn't work too well so sometimes I just end up with a load of RARs to extract myself, but it's pretty cool.

I've got one which i setup as a VMware View Thin client. Works rather well and is a cheap alternative to the others. Just need to work out some proper cases for them and Job's a goodun sell it for 3 times the price

Heh - Yesterday was approaching the end of my 12 week leadtime from RS, and yesterday I got an email from `em saying it'll be another 8 weeks minimum... good job I bought one off a colleague at cost who got one early on & used it twice then relegated it to a shelf due to no use for it (!).

 

It's currently running as a RAMP server.

I ordered one on release day from Farnell and it arrived around end of June - just before the Summer holidays. I was all full fuss wanting to play with it and getting annoyed that it wasn't arriving. Then when it arrived I opened the box and put it back after looking at it meaning to use it over the six weeks.

 

Ho hum - it's still in the box on the shelf where I left it. Not had the time.
