mrforgetful Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 So the Beta 3 has been released for Windows. Must say I love it. It's an awful grey and I can't get on any websites. I open it. Type in http://www.google.co.uk It prompts for my password to connect to ISA. I fill these in, press enter and Safari shuts down. I've uninstalled it. I dunno, gave Apple a chance and they blew it.

Oh, and that it does some stupid font smoothing as well - no 'Off' setting for that? Thought not. Ok I'll just close it then. But, wait a minute.. I can't do my usual habit of whizzing my cursor to the top-right of the screen and clicking to close the maximised window BECAUSE OF ITS FSCKING CRAPPY GUI SKIN MODE!! Thanks Apple for putting me further off your crappy products. :thumbup:

Ask any Mac user what browser they use and the majority will say firefox. I think the majority only use Safari once, and thats to download firefox. Whats next Mr Jobs, the I-Browser ?? PAH.

I've no idea why Apple do this, I remember them making a complete hash of Appleworks 6 on the PC because of it's UI and instability. It's near pointless to bring out a browser on a PC then refuse to include PC OS style things like tool tips, resizable windows that are standard etc.

How long did IE users have to wait for tabbed browsing, integrated popup blocker and RSS feed reader? Other browers have had these features for years. AFAIK IE cannot enlarge the text on a website but leave the images original size - Opera can. Multiple desktops and multple virtual consoles are but a pipe dream.

Ive got nothing against Mac's and i think they are a nice piece of hardware but it seems that Apple just dont do PC software Safari Security Issues N

I've used Windows Betas, Firefox Betas, IE Betas, Messenger Betas, Live Mail Beta, Office 2007 Betas, XBMC Betas. I've used Alphas of sorts. I've never had anything with problems that redered it unuseable like with Safari. Infact 90% of MS Betas I've used I will happily use instead of the current proper release and hardly ever encounter a problem. If Apple want to keep releasing those narrowminded lying adverts with those two guys then they need to at least not make a cock up this large. Also, what exactly does this browser add that the others are missing?

The "It's apple and it's shiny"-factor of course! 8) What people must remember with apple products - it doesn't matter if it's not functional, reliable, user-friendly or bug-free; as long as it looks shiny that's the main thing

Especially when they make a big deal in the marketing guff that it's a more secure browser.
