AmrAlmalieh Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Hello All, I have APC Smart UPS Smart-UPS RT 10000VA 230V, And Simply it keeps beeping and I dont have much experience in it, So I can tell you what it does, It Makes a discontinuous beeping sound, and flashing, Does anyone knows how to make this annoying beeping sound to stop ?!, Or maybe the cause of this case?
SYNACK Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Does it have network monitering or a USB port that you can hook up to at this will give you more information. It is probably unstable voltage like over or undervoltage conditions.
twin--turbo Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Does it have an ethernet port you can setup to log onto the unit. If not connect on the serial port and see what it's complaining about.

Pottsey Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 It’s hard to say without knowing the pattern of beeping. Could it be you keep losing power for short amounts of time? Do any of the lights change when beeping happens? Check no power cables have come lose. How old is the unit?
chazzy2501 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 if its not a problem with the mains its normally a battery issue. There should be a simplistic readout on the device look for red or amber lights.
AmrAlmalieh Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 In some Posts, I found that i could connect it to my laptop through a RJ45 to usb cable, I've tried that and the laptop didnt even recognize it !!!, but the Network card in it keeps flashing like its connected and there is no cable plugged in its network card

BHMS Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I had this with an APC UPS for a while. It would bleep rapidly for about a minute every hour or so. It had lost connection to the monitoring server. I recommend checking your servers for APC software on your servers.

You can also set the IP via a special ARP and ping command combination or use the serial port to configure it.

I'd still look at setting up the network monitering though as this will give you more full usage includign server shutdown on power fail rather than just delaying a hard shutdown.

The X light means there's an internal fault. There's a troubleshooting section in the manual which should help. 1
localzuk Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 A light on the X indicator means an internal fault has occurred. If its the Battery X indicator, it means replace battery.
Michael Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 All APC UPSes bleep every so often and display a red LED too when the battery needs replacing. By installing the APC PowerChute 9.0.1 software, this will give you a clearer indication what's going on. This is compatible with 2008 R2 and have it running at many sites.

Probably all of them as they are usually all the same age, best to replace the lot anyway. Some models do have an inline replacement feature but you would need to check your UPS manual to see if yours does and what the procedure is as given the voltage you need to be careful. Edit: page 13 of the manual someone posted earlier says they are hotswappable. Edited June 25, 2012 by SYNACK

They can be hot-swapped... although I did my last one when the server was shut down anyway for other reasons. Read through the documentation and it should tell you how to do it. It was straightforward with ours (also APC)

It was straightforward with ours (also APC) In the 10000 RT, there are 4 cartridges, each containing a bunch of batteries, but you only work with the cartridges - and they weigh a tonne, and cost a fair packet too.
