Heading to liverpool for a lot of drinks next weekend and was wondering where the best places to go are these days...

Was last there with some locals about 4 years ago and they took us to some canny bars and ended up in this massive club with about 3 or 4 floors (memory is hazey) that had an icebath full of drink on the ground floor..... is that place stil there as it had brilliant music.. and by brilliant i mean they played bon jovi and proclaimers......!!!!

I think Matthew St is the Main area. Slaters for your cheap vodke and then a whole bunch of other bars, some of them were actually pretty good. But that what years ago so things might have changed.

Bar CaVa was also pretty good last time I went (during the day so was empty), they have a wall of different flavoured Tequilla. Seriously, pretty much anything you could imagine was there including Baked Bean tequilla - which had baked beans in it!

My favourite is, and always will be, the wonderful Flanagan's Apple on Matthew St.

.... what was wrong with O'Connors, or the Cracke or the Philharmonic or ..........???

Mind you, last I heard O'Connors was closed!!!

There's a cracking* pub which is next to a shopping precinct which was absolutely kicking on a saturday afternoon. Full of 50+s doing Karaoke and the dodgiest looking chicken legs on offer as a pub snack on the bar. Surreal!

*may not be cracking to most but the atmosphere was ace!

The 3 storey monolith you speak of is definitely The Krazyhouse on Wood Street, the only decent club in Liverpool. It's very close to CaVa which is pretty good too. Just up the way, again on Wood Street is Django's Riff, nice cocktails and alternative dubstep/hip-hop.

You could also try Mojo's - "cool" music, but has the "cool" kids to go with it...or The Pilgrim, which is a bit out of the way, but is a bit more traditional. I think they do triples for £2...

oooh the Krazy house and the pilgrim mow that’s going back some..

I use to crew at the crazy house when I was at Liverpool uni got to see some good bands there and some not so good bands. Pop will eat itself,Utah saints, terrovision god it was fun Long days and nights then the pilgrim for breakfast ather the gig Guinness and a fry-up.

Anyone know if the swan is still open on wood street bit of a biker pub or it was but they use to sell litre cans of larger.

Catching the last tunnel bus back to the posh side of the Mersey and then staggering home ...

Missing the last tunnel bus and sitting in the freezing rain at the Pier Head waiting for the first Ferry!
