Or getting "JESUS CHRIST YOU SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!" when I walk into a class to fix something...

 

 

Plus, I get a few kids calling me by my first name... Because the teachers do.

Walked into the IT suite to sort out an issue and the kids are like Miss!! its Mister Mister sir..... I was like whose mister mister sir and they all cracked up.

Had a few of the more rascally year 6 boys call me "mate" now and then, which I try to discourage.

 

Of course, the reception-age children call every adult in the school "miss" and until they hit year 2 they are no male staff teaching/looking after them at all so they're just completely used to saying "miss!" when they want an adult's attention.

 

Heard all sorts over the years; Computer Man, Computer Guy, IT Man, and my personal favourite from a year 6 girl last year "Mr Genius" lol

 

Mr Pete has become mainstream recently, thanks to the blokes in the PE team who all let the kids call them by their first names and often even call me Mr Pete in front of the kids too!

 

 

It doesn't bother me what they call me really, as long as they are respectful about it that's fine with me.

Most kids here know me by my first name as teachers often use it, I also had a 'mate' today followed by a 'yea that's sound' when I asked 'Is that ok?'

I often get "Jesus" because that's the only possible name for long-haired-and-bearded gentlemen. It is, at least, only behind my back these days, unlike my last place.

 

Mostly just get Sir, I suspect most kids know my first name as nearly every teacher just calls me by that, so I just make a point of using theirs back when they do, to be honest, not that the hint ever gets taken!

 

And after one final assembly sketch last year, I've just about stopped being called "Not $technician". Still stings that everyone picked up on that bit and not on the "looks like Johnny Depp" bit from the same sketch though

I've had Keith (not my name) due to some fancy dress charity thing we did. Although the strangest thing I was linked to was due to kids trying to get at the mouse balls at which point the IT teacher told them to stop it - "the only people who should be touching mouse balls are vets and IT support" got some strange looks then

I constantly fight to stop the kids calling me by my name, and it doesn't help when staff call you by your name across classrooms or in busy corridors...

 

It also doesn't help that they know I'm on the radio, so if they didn't already know it, they know because of that...

 

I guess there are more important things to worry about though :¬)

"The thingie guy who's good with computers and does stuff to the internet and makes it work" has to be the best I've heard.

 

IT Guy is common. I despise it when any of them try to use my real name. I've worded a few teachers who do it in front of students to discourage it.

 

I remind them to use the correct male acknowledgement of "Sir".

Quite a while ago if you live here in Luton, I remember it being around when I was in high school 14+ years ago!

 

It tends to be used by the more, shall we say, 'street' speaking youths around here...

I often get "Miss told me to come here and ask for or " and the "Oh, while you're here " when you walk in a classroom. Then the pupils think it's great they know your first name, especially when other teaching staff including SLT always refer to you as .

 

Another random thing is that some of the Year 11s call their teacher just by his surname with a y on the end (if you know what I mean). I know he was always telling them not to so I wonder if he's given up or decided that the more he tells them not to do it the more they will do it.

Some kids call me Draco apparently I look like Draco Malfoy?! Others refer to me as Mr $surname or sir...

walking through town during easter i hear "ooo hi Mr $boss'_surname" and their friends corrected them and giggled.

 

we dont have real problems here, afew staff do call me by my first name in class rooms but the kids never have.

 

you do hear the occasional "cheers mate"

I get "Karl" (name), or "Ben" (as in Bill &)..NM is Bill I'm guessing.

 

We've also been referred to as "Gods", "geek squad", "Nerve Centre" (by the head!)..the list goes on.

 

Our Radio call-signs are "big boy" (6ft+ NM), and "Rubber Duck" (Me, because..why not.).

 

Such lines as "Come in big boy, come in big boy, it's rubber duck. we have a situation down here." always make people smile..

I was always the cool member of staff...last week of term I bought in an xbox for the IT suite (all games under age of 12, only those with exceptional behaviour could play and it was used on the projector)...the rest used the PC's with loosened restrictions (kids-tube opened up but monitored closely, games sites opened up with adblockers etc)

I've had guests to the school say things like "OH so you're the resident geek here are you?" when I'm introduced to them.

 

Though one of them (my favourite person to visit the school, coincedently) upon my introduction as IT Manager repled with "Ahhh, so, you're the guy who really runs things around here then *wink*"

 

Made me chuckle, which was quite apt as he was in promoting "laughology"!

I used to get called Neo at my last school due to the fact that I could normally be seen wandering round school wearing a 3/4 length leather jacket (although *pedantic hat on* Neo never actually wears a leather jacket in the Matrix), but I quite liked this.....was much better than the few kids who called me Peter Kay
