sidewinder Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Ive just found out that the school has installed cameras in 2 of the boys toilets, for valid reasons obviously, but I didnt think you were allowed to do that? They're all live and connected to our CCTV server and I can view them live and recorded...
Jake Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 We have a camera in the toilets too, as far as we found out, you can position cameras in toilets provided that they do not cover cubicles etc. Ours only show the sink area
sidewinder Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 Oh thats alright then, they definately dont cover cubicles, just the sinks
andyrodger50 Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 We have the same thing as Jake, and we had a professional company install all of ours. Its perfectly fine to have cameras in toilets providing they do not cover cubicles or urinals.
bossman Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 So what happens if one of the little darlings decides to take a pee in the sink how are you covered for that. Are you allowed to view the material if this happens?
russdev Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 What i would say is make sure get head to give you letter saying that it is part of your job to monitor the cctv just to cover legal issues. Second as not really reason for you to look loo at those cameras only do when requested by slt and in presence of one of them. Russ
CyberNerd Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 It must be pretty bad when kids are stealing the sinks
Jake Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 So what happens if one of the little darlings decides to take a pee in the sink how are you covered for that. Are you allowed to view the material if this happens? I guess so because he shouldnt be at the sink area with his peepee out, I imagine it would be the same if a kid got up in class and got his bits out on the classroom cctv. It must be pretty bad when kids are stealing the sinks Our toilet CCTV was the last one we put in, we put it in after the school had just spent £120,000 getting all the school toilets done up during the summer, and 2 days after the start of the new term someone snapped the taps off the sinks in one of the boys toilets causing £4000 of total damage, after that SMT decided that we needed a camera in there.
dezt Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 We have CCTV in the toilets here too, same as Jake, they cover the sink area and are set to motion detecion so they don't record all the time.
BKGarry Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I do the rules on CCTV in public toilet facilities is that they MUST NOT face any urinals or over any cubacles but are allowed to face the sinks and areas without the actuall facilities.

So do you need to be careful what can be seen in the MIRRORS above the sinks? i.e. if a cubicle door is open, and the toilet is then visible in the mirror, is that okay or not??
sidewinder Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 Second as not really reason for you to loo at those cameras only do when requested by slt and in presence of one of them. Yeah I will only look at them if requested so as to cover myself, Ive actually taken them off the auto connect list for the CCTV because theres no reason for me to look at them
Guest kerrymoralee9280 Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 How well do they cope with UV lighting? UV Lighting?! You can't tell me you need to install UV lighting in your toilets?! If so is it to combat the use of drugs? And if so, what kind of school do you work at where kids are shooting up?! Sorry if I'm reading into this wrong!
mrforgetful Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 You don't shoot up drugs that the UV is for, you snort them... The toilets in Blackpool trainstation have them it's like a disco! I mean night club, I'm not old ¬_¬ We don't have any cameras at all, can't remember who but we were told we weren't allowed to install them. I don't think it was said to be a legal thing just a school/governor/teacher thing.
enjay Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 not really reason for you to loo at those cameras Unfortunate typo Russ :-)
Guest kerrymoralee9280 Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Shoot up/snort them, it's all bad for you.
mrforgetful Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Shoot up/snort them, it's all bad for you. Yeo I agree, which is why I don't smoke or drink and eat healthy too.
Netman Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 UV lights in toilets make it harder for intravenous drug users to locate veins to inject into - they can't and won't deter other types of drug misuse. Hopefully there are *no* schools in this country that have had to install UV lighting
Guest kerrymoralee9280 Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I thought that was what it was for, to find it harder to locate a vein. But I'm very naive when it comes to drugs and prefer to turn my head and ignore the problem the country has.
mrforgetful Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 So they are, well learn something new every day. Not been a drug user I just figured it was so coke would glow brightly of something, didn't even think of smack.
Netman Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Perhaps I should just point out that I know the subject as I'm ex military police, not because I'm a smack-head

budgester Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 On of my friend who used to run a pub would put vaseline on the top of the toilet cysterns. Apparently really used to piss people of who tried to do lines of coke of them.
