I had this problem once, where it says it cant find the files during the non-gui portion of setup. I found out the reason for this is because it looks in a specific folder for the drivers. You have to put the drivers in the following path: A:\$OEM$\TEXTMODE\ Should work after that. I have tested this method successfuly on several Dell PCs (Optiplex 755 and 760 spec) with AHCI turned on.

This seems a little excessive to delete games and just save space. We run a simple delete script on user logon which removes *.mp3, *.exe, *.tmp etc. And of course we have disk quotas in place also. I feel sorry for you, as deleting everything is going to cost you no end of work. Just imagine having to restore all those files from however many DVDs you will end up with with them backed up on. Because you know theres going to be loads of people approaching you saying "oh but i need that file from last year and I can't find it".

I have a Vista test machine, and Program Files is still called Program Files. Not sure why it changed on your install of Vista!

We too are a foundation school and the same things have been said to me "We will be able to do what we want because we have foundation status" We have always been very independent from the LEA and anything to do with County Hall / ICT Solutions. Ours is 2.5TB at each end of the site, both servers sync together, just incase theres a fire or something .

We have the same thing as Jake, and we had a professional company install all of ours. Its perfectly fine to have cameras in toilets providing they do not cover cubicles or urinals.

At our school weve been looking at having some large screens dotted about displaying information, and our systems manager has got a quote from a company called Infralink. They are charging absolutely extortionate amounts for the software and equipment, and they dont even come and set it up! Has anyone ever had any experience with this company? Were thinking of using some of the older replaced PCs, ordering some LCD TVs online and doing it ourselves.

Our office fits that description exactly! Maybe we are both working in the same office, but dont know about it because we cant see eachother due to the massive piles of old computer equipment. lol

We have very little storage space here at springwood, which is a total pain in the arse, especially when you have 100 CRTs to dispose of, but cant just throw them in the skips because of these new waste disposal laws. I was just wondering whats storage like for other people on these forums? Just want to get a general idea.

bebo is a simpler version of myspace. this is the site chavs use as they cant get their heads round HTML. Not that everyone on bebo is a chav of course, as i have an account myself, just all chavs have bebo.

Its dependant on the serial numbers of the hardware inside the machine. it will allow you to change a minor component such as a hard drive, but if you change the motherboard you have to reactivate the machine. hence why you will need to reactivate each imaged machine. Its a bit of a pain in the arse tbh.

ahh OK, well if you image all of the machines you will have to activate them all individually, even if you activate the machine before creating the master image.

Are you not using the corporate edition of windows xp pro which doesnt require activation?

We use Netsupport, and its pretty good. it has a comprehensive set of controls and options, probably one of the best pieces of software available. the only problems with it are: 1) it sometimes causes machines to blue screen because of the way it ties in with the graphics card driver 2) the service sometimes crashes causing strange errors, but this can be resolved by restarting the service. Depends on how much money youve got really as to what you go for. Ultra VNC i think is quite good, but ive never really used it myself.
