Are you branded?

Despite all of us looking smart in suits throughout the year apart from holidays we are being encouraged to brand ourselfs like the other departments around school with school logo and department on polo shirt, fleeces. Just wondering how many others are branded in such a way?

We have a 'uniform,' with school badge and Department name...

 

I like it, it is comfortable in the warmer weather and we have a nice jumper that can be used in the winter

Cargo's and logo'd polo necks. Looks smart enough plus we're engineers - despise the idea of being a technician or engineer in a suit/shirt/tie - muppets idea!

 

But yes, I'm branded otherwise. I have AW branded on my left buttock (let's see how many get that)

Basically shirt & some form of trousers/jeans. I'm a sysadmin, not a shop assistant, and I have no desire to be associated with my employer on the lunch break. I get enough crazy old people telling me our kids were slouching* as it is.

 

*or some other breach of the 1903 decorum manual.

As it's only me running this place I'm not 'branded' as everyone knows who I am after 5 years here, even most of the parents!

Plus we all wear visible and obvious ID badges with name & photo & school logo, so having a shirt with "IT" on it would be overkill really.

 

Besides which I like being able to wear my own (smart) clothes, choices of colours and shirt/polo/pullover/fleece etc.

 

My trousers are always black workwear toursers with extra side pockets, double-stitching etc as I'm not crawling under dirty desks and carryng out equipment all day in wafer-thin but mercilessly-expensive suit trousers - I learnt that hard way by going through 3 pairs in my first year here!

I do have some branded t-shirts for holiday use, and those were at my own request (and are optional). During term time I dress the same as the teaching and administrative staff. Only the grounds and kitchen staff wear uniform during term time, but that's because smart clothes would be destroyed by the work they do.

 

If your normal dress is as smart as the teachers I'd be interested to hear their justification for you having to change.

Shirt/tie here - it's a pain as they tend to get mangled when doing tough/mucky jobs but as I'm more of a manager (though still a technician too) it makes sense to wear the same clothes as the teachers - most of my work is in the 'public eye', even if it's fixing a PC in a classroom.

Yes I am branded....all of our workers are, including the owners/managing directors. Mind you, we are gardeners! lol

I'm not currently branded (shirt and trousers as I see fit, although I do wear some spare uniform we had with the old school name on it for holidays) - That said, we are due to go to Academy status soon and the SLT like the idea of me being in some sort of uniform (because people obviously need their IT folk to be visible wherever they are!)

 

I don't have a problem with it as long as I'm included in the decision. Having to wear thick shirts or other similar stuff wouldn't be very practical! I know someone who was asked to wear a cap with the companies name on it whilst in school

I wear a suit most days, but the shirt is branded. I also, along with the team, have a range of branded polo shirts & jackets, including protective shoes etc.. I'm happy to wear them (I, personally, am not required to do so - the team are), as I'm actually quite proud to be associated with my job and the School.. It's also a bit of money saved by not having to buy those things myself.

I would love a nice tailored polo shirt with the school name on - save me wondering about what to wear. With some nice fitted trousers so I dont look like a bag lady.

Mind you, because I have two jobs, I would have to change clothes in the middle of the day!

Were moving to Polo shirts soon. Shirt and tie is so impractical as I always have to tuck in/take my tie off, role up my sleeves. Ties get get ruined and a suit is not the best thing to be crawling around the floor in. Sure you look smart for about 5 minutes until the first crawl of the day!

We are just going to get some polos with the school badge on. Other departments have the same sort of thing so why not us as we work with machinery and moving parts!

I have 2 Technicians in my department at the moment and I considered the change just for them at first then decided, we are a team so we should all dress the same.

Before I came here, when I worked in the big wide world, suit and tie were de rigeuer for site and field engineers.

 

I wore a suit and tie on my first day here, and was politely asked not to, as the students 'Might think you're a teacher'.
