Done - your friend probably needs a bigger differentiator to get better answers though - 50MB vs 500MB isn't a big enough distinction to change the backup method.

 

500MB vs 20GB might be. 20GB vs 2TB is.

It might be an idea to ask your friend to pop in and explain what course he is on and what the dissertation is ... we are a friendly bunch and are happy to discuss things.
