I have a 40" LE40B620R (...and breathe!) and it is being a pain. First time I turn it on each day it will take it's time coming on with the standby light flashing rapidly, then change channel at random, then change the volume before going back to changing the channel or switching itself off and back on again. It also turns itself on at random (extra rage when it does this just as I have crawled into bed!) or changes the channel at random whilst watching something. I used my phone camera on the remote and see no IR signal being emitted when it does it.

 

Does anyone here have a Samsung telly and this sounds familiar?

I've had quite afew Samsung Tvs and I've never had an issue with any other them. Sounds like you've got a faulty one, can't you return it? Or have you had it for a while?

Sounds like dodgy capacitors.

I have a Samsung telly and haven't seen anything like this - the other half has turned it on once to find the volume set at about 40 odd.

 

Never happened again though...

We've got 7 or 8 of that model or similar around the school and haven't had no issues in the 12 - 18 months we've used them.

check and see if their is a firmware update, I have an LG that needed a FW update out of the box to cure the volume jumping around wildly at every freeview channel change!

My bro has a Samsung 40" LCD. When you turned it on it would take a while to turn on (and made a clicking sound) so he took it to a shop and got a new part fitted £60 sorted it. I would go to a specialist shop they will of probably seen the issue before!

Does it do this when you "hide" the remote?

My old man had a samsung doing something pretty similar, he was convinced casper had moved in....

Turns out it was a dicky remote and the IR was going primate poo.....

Some fluorescent lights can trigger random ir errors, have you tried covering the TVs sensor.

I checked the remote with my phone camera (they can see the IR bulb light up if you point it at the camera).

 

Tried firmware and it won't update. Looks like I have to dig a warranty out and hope it is still valid. TV is about 3 years old!

We are having this issue and samsung is coming on thurs FOC for an inspection - fingers crossed.

Cheers for that. I have a paid warranty so I will use this as ammunition. They just said leave it and see if it does it but I don't use the telly TBH because I can't watch anything!

Thats handy I have a Samsung set that is doing exactly that but is out of warranty.

From what i understand it doesnt matter if its in or out of warranty ours is 5+ years old and is out of warranty. If you have paid anything to fixe it you may be able to claim it back as well.

I'll be calling them up later to see what they'll do - not got problems as bad as you lot but it does randomly "click" so probably only a matter of time
