Hi,

I've got a manged switch, HP Procurve 2524.

All the 24 ports are 10/100.

It has 2 other ports - 1 has a fibre module in it, and 1 has a gigabit module.

When I connect anything to the gigabit (just bought a qnap device that has a 1gb card) it only runs at 100mb.

Any ideas.

What happens when you manually set it to gigabit in the switch's managment console?

Have you got the latest firmware on the switch?

Are you just connecting the two with a patch cable, or is there a cable run involved. Not being able to achieve gigabit can often indicate a wiring fault since only two of the four pairs are used for 100m/b. Gigabit uses all 4.

Thanks. Its a patch cable straight into the device from the switch.

I've just changed it to "auto-1000" in the console and it still says running at 100FDx.

Don't think I've got the latest firmware but I'll check that one

unfortunatley the only options on the port are 100fdx, auto, auto-100 and auto-1000.

I've set it to auto-1000 and 1000 on the QNAP but its still connected at 100 :(
