klop Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Cheers peeps - was good to meet you. Cheers for the lanyard! lol And thanks for the Sankore IWB software advice - planning on trying that early next week. Now go play with the Skoog for me - I'm missing it already!! Thanks again.
garethEds Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Just jumping in here after a 5 hour journey back from London to my house after dropping my Dad and @rich_tech off (two bad accidents on the motorway - one in Reading and one in Cardiff) - want to say thanks for the welcome at the stand. It's the first time I've met some of you and it was great to put faces to names. Lanyard was excellent and also the phone cloth. I also got to sign the poster What happens to that? Gareth
Devontechie Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Thank you all. Was good to meet some of you yesterday. Hope everyone had a good time at Bett.
TheScarfedOne Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 No worries guys. The same for us really, you just get to know everyone by their alterego! We are mostly up and getting ready for all our trips back. The poster is going to be framed and brought to all events I believe
plexer Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Safe journeys guys, I was home just after 9 last night. Ben
rich_tech Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 It was a nice day out and an interesting first time up to BETT with @garethedmondson and was nice to meet some people and put faces to names and nicks, a lot to take in first time I thought but I look forward to next time I attend
elsiegee40 Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I had a great time at BETT this year... it's so hard to work out who everyone else is. Compulsory avatar stickers on the name badges next year before you get pizza, I think! 1
tom_newton Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Plus one for @elsiegee40's idea, it does get tough to remember faces you only see twice a year, and it'd be nice to be able to accost those who you've chatted with extensively online but who might stroll right past you at BETT without you knowing, IYSWIM!
Dos_Box Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 It was, as ever, great to see so many of you again, and the poster you all signed looks fantastic (there will be a hi-res image of this made available for you all). We are all finally on our way home now - John and I are on the train as I type this - and judging by the look of utter exhaution of all of the stand staff in the hotel lobby this morning we have worn ourselves out completely. I'm looking forwards to getting home to my family, having a coffee that I don't have to pay a small fortune for and sleeping in my own bed. See you all next year
john Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Echo the comments above, been an excellent week at BETT, yes for those who thought we just appeared like magic on the Wednesday morning, this is now day 7 of BETT for a number of us and we are completly shattered and ready for our own beds, showers and familys. Thanks to all the great people I met and talked technology with, it was great to meet so many members and catch up with ones met before. Here is to BETT 2013 at ExCeL
hit Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Here is to BETT 2013 at ExCeL Missed that one, great stuff, it's a quick jog across the river from me, I can see it from my house
robk Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Great time had by all. Bett only works Because of the size of our membership, its great talking to everyone and very interesting exactly how much clout someone wearing an edugeek shirt has at the show. I hope everyone managed to get what they needed from the show. As with dos_box and the rest of the team now slowly winding my way home on the train.
GrumbleDook Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 At home, legs up resting and catching up with posts. A big thank you to @Dos_Box and @ZeroHour for letting all of us who did the stand have such a fun but hard working experience. Chatting to a few exhibitors on Friday they admitted that they are pretty jealous of the relationship you have with the members and that the show would not be the same without the stand ... and the lanyards everywhere! As for avatars ... I think I was pretty easy to recognise on Friday!
witch Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Yes, Tony, but the avatar idea is a good one - course elsiegee and me did it anyway! Had a great time as always -next year it is a bit further for me but I am determined to make it, and for longer. I would love to help on the stand again. Missing you all already.....
garethEds Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Plus one for @elsiegee40 's idea, it does get tough to remember faces you only see twice a year, and it'd be nice to be able to accost those who you've chatted with extensively online but who might stroll right past you at BETT without you knowing, IYSWIM! I did visit your stand Tom but you were not there :-) Gareth
Mullaney18 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 As i posted in the other thread, thanks again guys for giving me and my ICT coord a lanyard. Will the poster we signed be getting scanned and posted? Cheers
north-ict Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Had a good time at BETT and was really nice to pop down to the edugeek stand and say hi. BUT THEY LOST THE SILVER PEN when i went to sign the poster so my names wriiten with a biro in the circle area lol and feels so out of place ..... . Was nice to meet rick and pick up a microfibre cloth and lanyard. Hopefully see you guys again at BETT 2013. Maybe an idea would be source one of these avatar generators (The southpark ones) and imbed it on the edugeek website and then have a template for a 'I'm a edugeeker!' (Im sure Sysman would knock up a awesome template as with all his other awesome work) stick in our own avatars, print it and place it at the back of our BETT fair badges. If that happens then next year whoever prints the template and shows it off at the edugeek stand get a special free goodie or something.
X-13 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 If that happens then next year whoever prints the template and shows it off at the edugeek stand get a special free goodie or something. So, we get a secret handshake, of sorts? +1 for this.
Guest salan Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 A bit late but tied up on Friday. Thanks for the food and landyard. It was good to see some friendly faces and especially when they don't want to give me a load of literature!! Alan
zag Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Yeh thanks to all for a great show. No idea how you guys did an entire week there, it was exhausting enough doing just the Thursday! Hope you got drunk at some point
Domino Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 A bit late but tied up on Friday. Thanks for the food and landyard. It was good to see some friendly faces and especially when they don't want to give me a load of literature!! Alan We get so many people confused that we don't sell anything, some even argue with us about it.... Good to catch up with familiar faces, and meet some edugeekers I've not before!

Then there are those ninjas, such as myself, who turn up when everyone has left. And are gone by the time they get back. 1
tom_newton Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I did visit your stand Tom but you were not there :-) Gareth That's what I get for being slack and cutting off early I guess
