  1. Afternoon - just wondering what people have on their digital signage in the school reception area. It could be the first thing people see. Just looking for ideas. Gareth
  2. We have thought about moving our PaperCut MF to the cloud - but not sure of the logistics in that. I've never played with cloud based servers and am not sure of the costs to do that. Yet we still have a media file store which is needed at the moment. Cannot see us being able to move that to the cloud - so am not sure what to do with it. We also have our catering server. 😞 So many variables - yet options seemed closed off and there is no discussion that we can be part of.
  3. Printing is the issue stopping me going full pelt -also the lack of direction from the LEA. Apparently Hwb want each LEA to have one printer server. We have our own contract and are not part of the LEA's SLA for printers. Only one Comp in Swansea has gone Hwb and in fairness if I ask a question I get the help (Hi MJ). I feel there needs to be more direction from the LEA though.
  4. The other member of staff who helps me out is our DT Technician and so we are using his department 3D printers to run off scenery based on designs found online.
  5. We just edited the install batch file to uncomment the silent line and comment the other back in.
  6. Just thought I'd come back to say where we are as a school. Our numbers this year have been great with Year 7 8 and 9 all returning - and some new members. The biggest news is that two companies have given us money to invest in our club. One of the Dads is a director of an engineering company, and a massive Warhammer fan. So his company have given us £700 to purchase some new Combat Patrols. We have been given an amazing discount by Gamers Emprium in Swansea - on top of the cheaper prices they have. A second company has given us £200 to purchase the consumables - paints, brushes etc. We have a logo, we are getting polo shirts for the inter-school matches. Due to the length of matches we will be playing 500 point ones for now and building from there. I still have no idea what I am doing - but just enjoy seeing the kids work on their skills, communicating with each other and generally enjoying themselves in a safe environment. We had a visit from the Headteacher yesterday too who spent the whole dinner hour talking to the pupils about their skills. They appreciated that she came down. So - onwards and upwards. We're always looking for sponsorship if any companies are here and want to give us stuff. Plenty of photo ops for you.
  7. Ahh you mean our security groups?
  8. Good morning - Does anyone know if a user sync on PaperCut to an on-site AD runs for all OUs under the main one? So if I sync to 'OU>Students' will anything under that sync : 'OU>Students>2026', 'OU>Students>2025' and so on? At the moment we seem to be choosing all of our OUs manually - but just choosing the top ones would be great.
  9. We closed our MDT server down before the Summer and moved to DeployR Community Edition. It's been very good so far after a few teething issues which the guys at 2Pint Software sorted. The CE edition has a couple of handy bits missing from the full version but the price they were asking for a school took it out of our range. I have spoken to them about pricing for schools which is a set price - but whether they took it back to their bosses who knows.
  10. I've just run through the process of it and it has worked well. Deployment via PDQDeploy has been good. I used a powershell script to stop and delete the task schedule for the old update process then another script to remove the application (as shown on the docs). The biggest issue I have is the install script not coming to an end. Everything has been deployed. I did have an issue with the .bat file not ending, but you can edit this for the type of deployment you want. I had to uncomment the install command for silent install. Otherwise - all good.
  11. HI All, We are considering the move to InTune this year (LEA/Hwb Cymru push maybe) but the PaperCut server is a red line that is stopping us move now. We have an on-site PaperCut server. We are not part of the LEA print SLA and went alone for reasons that are not important here. How do people that have migrated to InTune make use of their on-site PaperCut server (if they have one) - is it possible? Or are we better asking PaperCut to host the server in the cloud as well? I'm not sure Hwb will let us have our own and we may be expected to revert to the LEA centrally hosted print server. Looking forward to responses.
  12. The Hwb tech group is good. There is an online meeting as well which you can attend. It's usually LEA people although I occasionally drop in - despite not being a Hwb domain school. My issue with it all - and I'm happy to publicly say it - we don't know who is making all the decisions that affect schools. I cannot find the chain of command. Another example - we pulled out of the LEA print service. We have our own PaperCut server and our own contract with KM. Yet from what I've been told, Hwb will allow one print server per LEA. This means we cannot have our own print server connected to our machines. I've thought about putting it on the Papercut cloud - but am yet to me told whether this would be allowed. The print issue is the main red line for us as yet. Once that is in place I'm going to start the move.
  13. Oh no - you've done it now. Jinxed the next few days.
