witch Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 just started watching it Why the appalling canned laughter??
GREED Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 No spoilers please I'll be watching when i'm back on Saturday!
synaesthesia Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 There's no canned laughter.. it's in front of an audience. But the notion of doing something like that is such as shock to people these days that there is a strange assumption it is.
witch Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Hmm -but if you rewind all the laughter is the same-so it has been altered in some way
synaesthesia Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 (edited) Well it's filmed in front of a studio audience. I should know, so make of that what you will I thoroughly enjoyed that. Better than the majority of crud we've had in the last decade of so called comedy. (There's a very good reason my online alias for the last 20 years is Kryt) Edited October 4, 2012 by synaesthesia 1
X-13 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I'm totally going to have to watch it again... I missed most of it.
plexer Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Indeed it was filmed in front of an audience allthough it was maybe too loud. Ben
DMcGuigan Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I'm totally going to have to watch it again... I missed most of it. It's on again at 20 to 12, they're showing Red Dwarf 4 until then.
synaesthesia Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 It's lovely to think that Robert Llewellyn (Kryten) met his wife (Camille) in the first ep of Series 4 tonight - and even more so that their daughter watched it for the first time
X-13 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 his wife (Camille) For a moment, I was thinking of green blob Camille...
Rawns Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 @synaesthesia - If you mean what I think you mean, you lucky sod!!! I loved it. Had me in tears throughout! It felt like it was back to it's roots a little bit. The only two things that bug me is A) The adverts which I did expect with it being aired on Dave, and B) The preview of the next Episode. I actually enjoyed the Bombardier sponsor adds as well.
Rawns Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 For a moment, I was thinking of green blob Camille... I was thinking of the Cat Camille....
X-13 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 (edited) I was thinking of the Cat Camille.... YAOW! Le EDIT for @Rawns: YAOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Edited October 5, 2012 by X-13 1
Rawns Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 I suggest a "Le EDIT" to "YAOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!"
localzuk Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I missed it, because it was raining, and therefore I didn't have TV signal! Gonna have to watch it tonight somehow.
Gibbo Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Indeed it was filmed in front of an audience allthough it was maybe too loud. I thought it was too loud too, and there were some bits with laughter on when the characters just said a word or sentence which wasn't funny. I was hoping I could find an example to compare it to and here it is: Funny Simpsons Moment - Mr Burns - YouTube
bladedanny Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 ... A) The adverts which I did expect with it being aired on Dave... Which is where Sky+ comes into its own.
Rawns Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 Which is where Sky+ comes into its own. Got Sky+, paused and grabbed a brew, then fast forwarded to part 2! The wife will always watch something 10 minutes after it starts just to fast forward through the adds.
Flatpackhamster Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I thought it was good. It certainly made me chuckle.
Griff Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Once I let go and reminded myself it was Red Dwarf I was laughing like mad, as someone else said earlier it felt like back to the old roots. Its on the UKTV website demand player, you just have to sign up!
localzuk Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Watched it over lunch. Brilliant. A proper return to the roots of the show!
synaesthesia Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 So the "laughter" issue is down to it being too well mixed, according to several technical sources. In other words, it's done in a modern style and we're used to how we remember it. Good example : My Family.
north-ict Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Watched it and I thought it was brill got it sky+ so not to miss anything. I did stumble across a pilot unaired episode (1992) on youtube of REDDWARF USA that never aired on TV, watched a few minutes of it was interesting....
localzuk Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Pre-ordered the Blu Ray last night. Out next month.
LiamH Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Was good, like the older episodes. "Was he Swedish? Moose"
