Why the appalling canned laughter??

There's no canned laughter.. it's in front of an audience. But the notion of doing something like that is such as shock to people these days that there is a strange assumption it is.

Hmm -but if you rewind all the laughter is the same-so it has been altered in some way

Well it's filmed in front of a studio audience. I should know, so make of that what you will

 

I thoroughly enjoyed that. Better than the majority of crud we've had in the last decade of so called comedy.

It's lovely to think that Robert Llewellyn (Kryten) met his wife (Camille) in the first ep of Series 4 tonight - and even more so that their daughter watched it for the first time

I loved it. Had me in tears throughout! It felt like it was back to it's roots a little bit. The only two things that bug me is A) The adverts which I did expect with it being aired on Dave, and B) The preview of the next Episode.

 

I actually enjoyed the Bombardier sponsor adds as well.

I missed it, because it was raining, and therefore I didn't have TV signal! Gonna have to watch it tonight somehow.

I thought it was too loud too, and there were some bits with laughter on when the characters just said a word or sentence which wasn't funny. I was hoping I could find an example to compare it to and here it is:

The wife will always watch something 10 minutes after it starts just to fast forward through the adds.

Once I let go and reminded myself it was Red Dwarf I was laughing like mad, as someone else said earlier it felt like back to the old roots. Its on the UKTV website demand player, you just have to sign up!

Watched it over lunch. Brilliant. A proper return to the roots of the show!

So the "laughter" issue is down to it being too well mixed, according to several technical sources. In other words, it's done in a modern style and we're used to how we remember it. Good example : My Family.

Watched it and I thought it was brill got it sky+ so not to miss anything. I did stumble across a pilot unaired episode (1992) on youtube of REDDWARF USA that never aired on TV, watched a few minutes of it was interesting....
