GrumbleDook Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I'm just getting ready for Movember and wondering what others are doing for it this year. I've had the offer to join the team at work but if anyone wants to take up the mantle of organising an EG team this year I'd happily join that instead.
Butters Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I could but it would just look like I've drunk hot chocolate and forgot to wipe. If enough people convince me I will attempt however.
Haptic Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I am in and aiming for something along these lines. Chris 1
Butters Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 If i start cultivating now.....I'd probably still look like I've shaved by the end of November. Also my moustache area grows through as blonde/strawberry blonde and there's no way I could have that.
Haptic Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 For anyone that is getting involved are we going to have a weekly picture update on here......should be good for a laugh!? That includes you Butters (Get a joke one if you cannot grow one - we will never know the difference!) Chris
Oaktech Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 i've been invited, but as i'm already sporting the maximum amount of facial hair (and it's quite a lot: beard, tache, and sides) allowed by my better half, i will be of limited use, and before anyone asks i will not be removing because a) my face will get cold b) i look about 12.
GREED Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I may have to also go with novalty tash... mine ends up looking like Gay '80 porn star look. MK-2 If I hear any comeback on this post you're for it...
featured_spectre Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I am literally unable to shave due to the pain I have with my jaw, so I shall join you in full beardyness
teejay Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 If the staff one doesn't take off, I'll join the Edugeek one.
bossman Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 @Grumbledook: All our male members of staff have formed the Bishop Barrington group and you can sponsor me here Its for a good cause, I have never ever grown a moustache before so at 52 years of age it will be something I will be truly proud of if I achieve it. Good luck to all those taking part this year.
aerospacemango Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I already have the full set too! But if a sponsor site goes up, I'll pop some in for you guys that CAN grow one!!!
webman Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I've had a full/"designer stubble" beard since the start of 2008, and am also taking part in Movember. It's all coming off on the 31st of October to start... something... 1
john Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I've had a full/"designer stubble" beard since the start of 2008, and am also taking part in Movember. It's all coming off on the 31st of October to start... something... But @webman you will look about 3 years old! We need these before photos!
webman Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 But @webman you will look about 3 years old! We need these before photos! Bit older than 3 years.... The internet really doesn't want to see any more! 2
GrumbleDook Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 Bit older than 3 years.... The internet really doesn't want to see any more! For some reason that picture really does explain everything!
MK-2 Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 I may have to also go with novalty tash... mine ends up looking like Gay '80 porn star look. MK-2 If I hear any comeback on this post you're for it... I beg your pardon sir, you seem to have mistaken me for someone else. Plus I think you'll find it just finishes the look off, the lederhosen and cowboy boots you wear were already helping the look 1
cromertech Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 I'll be going for one again this year. Last year was a little bit of a disaster I thought but others were fairly impressed. It's the little flecks of ginger I'm particularly disappointed with!

It's the little flecks of ginger I'm particularly disappointed with! My facial hair is ginger / blonde and i'm ok with it!

GrumbleDook Posted October 31, 2011 Author Posted October 31, 2011 I'm up and running again Movember United Kingdom - Home Running Mo-Solo at the moment.
Rydra Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I shave about 6-10 times a year, often less, so I sport a full beard most of the time, though in recent times I've done my best to keep it manageable rather than the food-catching rats nest it usually ends up as. I found out a long time ago I'm allergic to Aloe Vera or some similar ingredient of just about every soap and face lotion that makes me look like I've been through a bush full of thorny ivy and nettles, so I shave it all off only for special occassions. I've sported some truly terrible beardy looks over the years, truly terrible.
LosOjos Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) I'd love to do it, but two of the teaching staff do it every year so I get the "I already donated"... not much point if nobody wants to sponsor me EDIT: I'll happily donate to other peoples and an EduMo team though lost a dear friend this weekend, although not to testicular cancer it brings it home even more how important it is that all cancers are stamped out ASAP Edited October 31, 2011 by LosOjos
