speckytecky Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Been trying to find a driver for a HP Laserjet 3600 but so far to no avail - seems HP haven't produced one, or am I looking in the wrong places?
sted Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 ive got it working on a 2008r2 box so x64 so i assume there are x86 drivers just be aware never set it to mono output it brints white and black not black and white looks cool but wastes lots of ink if you are stuck i will try and dig out the driver though iirc i just plugged it into the server with usb to get windows to use its own driver but i could be thinking of another hp in that instance 1
LeMarchand Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Apparently the Vista one should work: HP Drivers. Unless I've got hold of the wrong model there!
FragglePete Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I had nothing but problems getting these printers to work with Windows 7. The x64 drivers will work from the Server, but just couldn't get the thing to work with x86 drivers. In the end, I sold the printer and toner to another School who had a load of them. At the time when I was pulling my hair out, there was a load of very unhappy HP customers on their forums absolutely dismayed that they brought these printers quite recently and was not supported with Windows 7. badders Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 We've also had problems with these printers and Windows 7, and we're slowly replacing them. We have got them working by using the Vista drivers and not setting them to mono but we still sometimes have the odd problem. 1
speckytecky Posted September 20, 2011 Author Posted September 20, 2011 Thanks LeMarchand but the problem is going through those links brings you to HP 's excuse for a link that no longer works! Apparently the Vista one should work: HP Drivers. Unless I've got hold of the wrong model there!
speckytecky Posted September 20, 2011 Author Posted September 20, 2011 Crikey - we have a heap of these. If anyone from the mighty HP is scanning this thread of our wonderful Forum come on folks please sort this one out as there seem to be a whole heap of unhappy HP customers out there in need of a decent 32 bit Windows 7 driver.
LeMarchand Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Sorry! Didn't click "download". I guess it's true what they say about assumptions. I managed (eventually) to download from this HP address. If that's no good it's a tad over 14MB if you want it sent - or if you're feeling brave, Google: HP_CLJ3600_32bit_HB.exe 1
bossman Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 We use HP's Universal driver for all our HP printers I think it's version PCL5.1 which we use and it works on all our models even our 3500 which will be similar to your 3600. Here Good hunting its at the bottom PCL 5 1
sted Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 im 90% sure the universal driver dosent work you just get a page printed that says in technical "this driver dont work"
AngryTechnician Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I am currently using the Universal Print Driver v5.3 on my one of these, and it does work. I use the PCL 5 version; the others I had problems with. You will need to manually set the following options on the server as the auto-detect doesn't pick them up right: Hard disk: Not Installed Mopier mode: Disabled Job storage: Disabled If you leave these at their default or rely on auto-detect, you will have problems with multiple copies (unless your one actually does have the hard disk option in it). You may also want to use this slightly ugly but working hack to prevent the driver install taking sodding ages when the clients connect to the printer.
