Hi,

In a different forum someone said that the RMone was pretty secure except the dvd player, which is the same as the computers I use at work, the drives always get broken first!!

But it got me thinking about maybe trying to get hold of the internal drives that don't have trays, like the Mac mini has.

The thing is I have tried searching and they don't seem to exist! Does anyone use them? or know if they can be purchased?

Thanks,

Slot Loading drives are not as common as they used to be, I've a few people wanting DVD Writers but they are not in mass production anymore really as they are not that popular

Nope, ITX and Mini-ITX mostly use notebook models due to the power saving and space saving factor. It is possibe to use the 5.25" ones but not that common I think.

Thanks webman I had no idea there used to be a RM One based on the Enlight chassis. Maybe with the slim models a good option would be to disconnect them so they cant be opened :D (providing you don't need to use them that is!)

Yeah we disabled all of ours in the IT rooms - far too many of them were missing the rubber bands or constantly whirring. They were handy for diagnostics with UBCD/Knoppix but we could put those on a PXE server if we really needed them (I've successfully PXE-booted the memtest/ranish floppy images before)
