Following from another thread...I was definitely a broomcupboard kid!

 

Cities Gold, Geordie Racer, Racoons, Gummibears, trapdoor (neighbour was a ITV child so watched it at hers)

OMG this is weird - I've just been chatting to the centre manager and admin about this just now! We have a Crackerjack fan (a little bit older) and ITV girl... I was BBC through and through - it was CBBC or Radio Four thanks to my folks!

I watched all kinds, Battle of the Planets, Thundercats, Terrorhawks etc. that and playing on my speccy and playing D & D.

Talking of brilliant old programs..can anyone remember the name of a really bizarre show....it was like the predecessor of the crystal maze...where celebrities had to go round this weird alien base with a talking plant and solve puzzles to collect tokens which were shaped like triangles and squares etc, and at the end they had to face off one against one on a virtual grid against the Vortex

top cat was one of my favourites, also transformers, thundercats, wacky races, catch the pigeon all sorts of catoons really but the best theme tune has gotta go to the poddington peas! now that was a theme tune!!!!

no one has even mentioned the good old SCOOBY DOO that was legendary old school TV. what the people eat or drink when they think of these shows is beyond me completely!!!!

I watched both, depending on what was on at the time and which presenter was the most annoying ... CITV usually had the most annoying presenters and so I would only flick over to them if there was a cartoon or show I wanted to watch.

 

What about the pre-broom cupboard days?

I didnt really like Saturday Superstore, loved Swap Shop and Number 73 though.

 

Which one was the one with the green alien guy with all the snot...god he was funny as hell

Can just about remember No 73. Originally a CITV child when I was very young, not sure I even realised there was another channel! But flicked between the two later on. Any one remember Galaxy High. And Cities of Gold - did they ever find what is was they were looking for? I can't remember! tv-ark.org is great btw for old theme tunes etc. when it is back online.

Dont really remember Number 73 but then again i was a channel switcher and only watched the cartoons. Aside those mentioned i use to love watching MASK, and Centurions.

Being only 19, i've never seen the old swap shop. I'm a 90's child and grew up with a stapple diet of good cartoons, transformers(bring on the live action film, thundercats, bucky o'hare and of course bananaman and super ted when i was a bit young for the others.

 

It's been said before and i'll say it again they don't make them like they used to, most of the new shows look like they where made while the creators are stonned!
